My Other Toy
From 'My Van'..Davo's Van..This is my other toy I have restored from a rusted wreck..Bought from Vic 2005 and has taken 5 yrs to complete. Basically a brand new car from top to bottom and front to back..
1976 Fairmont XC Coupe.. 5.8Ltr clevo..Toploader and 9inch Diff..Totally old school and gets up and goes.
Like the van, I did all the steelwork/rust and bodywork..Put it out for paint (twice!!)

Re: My Other Toy
Very nice mate!
Love the XA/B/C Coupes, I had an XB Coupe that I was going to restore in the mid ninties back when I was eighteen/nineteen, and another doner XB Coupe that sadly I had to get rid of. They had been sitting in my old mans backyard waiting for me to have the money to get it back on the road, but with a quoted $5000+ just in bodywork to be done and me just a student at the time, they had to go... I just could not store them any longer...
To this day I still regret it in a major way especially, for the amount of money I got for them...
They are worth an absolute mint now!!!
Great job on the restoration, it is a real credit to you.

Re: My Other Toy
Very nice,
They would have to be one of the sexiest rear quarters on any car in the world i reckon.
I would love one aswell but cars like this have just about become out of reach for the average bloke now.
Cheers, Al.

Barnfinds
Barnfinds area real thing..A couple of years ago I was told of an XA Coupe been sitting for years..I went looking and found it siiting on what was left of the farm sheds wooden floor. No roof or walls. Kids had broken the drivers window and jumped all over the roof. It was extremely rusty but I bought it for
$500.
I moved it to a panel shop and removed a couple of items. Then onsold it to Superoo Falcon Spares who again onsold it to a bloke who is now restoring it.
It was a Falcon 500 6cyl matching numbers ...Very Very rusty..The doors fell off the A pillars..Get the idea!
For the $ I sold it for, I am now kicking myself as the prices they fetch now area out there!.
But it does go to show that there are still barn finds out there..This was 2 yrs ago.
