Smooth's LC XU-1

Post  sinbin on Sun 03 Jun 2012, 4:18 am

Here is my Genuine (albeit far from original) 9/71 LC Bathurst XU-1
I built this car in 1988/9 from a write-off. The left hand headlight was touching the brake booster.
Whilst working as manager of Street Machine Spares in Sydney I was going home each night to the missus, baby Jon and building my XU-1.

Took it to the Summernats in 1990 as an entrant and also down to Wodonga Van Nationals in 1990 and put on a little bit of a display.
In the Summernats video Brute Housepower (can't remember the number) probably "3" you will see me and Simon Kruger pushing through scrutineering.
Simon went on to build some of Australia's fastest Torana's.

Sold it in 1992 to get a deposit for a house. Wonder whatever happen to it?

WOW that's nearly 25 years ago! pale

I'm not a fan of the earlier Torana's but that looks tuff, would be very happy to have it as a sunny Sunday cruiser, twin predators though you would need to convert the whole boot to a petrol tank burnout burnout burnout

Cheers Mark

You seen a XU-1 fuel tank? It does take up the boot!

Actually, Predators aren't that heavy on fuel. They deliver fuel based on a variable venturi, what air goes past the fuel is added.
It was heavier on fuel when fitted with a single 650 double pump Holley on a Redline Maxitork manifold.
