The 383 Cruiser engine is our daily driver of the bunch. This engine is built with a mild hydraulic roller camshaft for a very slight idle, easy driving and great fuel economy. Because it is so mild mannereed, the 383 Cruiser works well with automatic overdrive transmission and stock torque converters. Get out on the road and cruise with this Cruiser, the easy driving engine. For those who want extra bling, add our polish package, custom paint or Endura-Shine intake manifold.

Crankshaft: Forged 4340 steel with 3.800” stroke, micro-polished, chamfered, digitial high-speed balanced
Rods: 5140 forged “I” beam with 3/8" ARP WaveLoc bolts, 5.700" length, balanced in sets

You could easily get these horsepower /torque out of your motor .
This motor is a 383 and is not making 1 hp per cubic inch a reasonable motor should make
At least 1hp per cubic ..the steel crank and I beam rods are going to be for reliability in this motor .
It would be a good starting point and think with a little more work you would get bigger gains out of it..

Me personally I would rather build my own engine and buy all my own parts,with my 383 I know every part of that engine I know it seems like a great deal but you just do not know what is inside unless you pull it down and inspect and measure all the internals.
