Perspex

If its NOT a dumb question......

Has anybody ever bulit/thought about buliding a clear perspex bonnet scoop ??????

back in the day there was a van getting around with a full perspex bonnet i remember seeing it on here but i have know idea what it was called or a link

it could be done but i don't like the chances of it lasting in the sun for to long but it would be different that would be sure

i would be thinking of making one from lexan its like perspex but a bit softer and a bit more UV stable

Jade had a full Perspex Bonnet as did that little red Gemini Van, who's name escapes me at the moment. Malibu?

Total Eclipse had a Perspex Cover over the Carbs/Air Cleaners through it's Bonnet.

Not a silly question Sam,perspex scoops have been around since the 60s from drag cars to street machines and vans .

And numerous vans and street machines have had Perspex windows in their bonnets, Stargazer and Evil Dreaming were two as well as Stubbsys Malibu.
There use to be a HX GTS in Wagga years ago with a Perspex box over it's tunnel ram, some of the Wagga locals might know who owned it?

Perspex bonnet scoop

Thanks Guy's I knew someone would know something about them,
The next step is to find out if someone that would make me one,
( I was thinking the shape of Garry's bonnet scoop.... groupA )

I don't think Gas & water go together that well &&&& Carby's through the bonnet with SOME coper's.
(its incase someone goes over the bonnet & gets hook on one) What about the bumpper bar & the windscreen hey,

Rowan Wilson's "Witch Queen" had a cool Perspex scoop over the tunnel ram back in the mid 70's.

There's a mob in WA that does bike windscreens
If you rang them they might be able to custom make something for you
There called EAGLE WINDSCREENS & advertise in motorcycle news .
I got a tinted screen for my kwaka from them....

I was just reading "vanwheels" no 10 and Fire Truck has a Perspex dome over the tunnel rammed motor. There's also a black LTD fronted Ford with a Perspex cover over the air filter too.

Pretty common when you start looking for them.

The group A scoop will look good, but you'll have to cut the entire piece out of the bonnet, or you'll just be looking at a small hole with a lot of painted bonnet under the scoop.
If you cut the whole section under the scoop it will look great, a bit like Stargazer, but a scoop rather than a window.

Do IT!!!!!!

Exactly!!!!

That's why you should do it. I reckon a Perspex group A scoop would look cool, and show off the engine below. And you could leave your bonnet shut at shows, but people could still see the engine (which of course you would have spent a fortune on chrome bits)  

I spoke to a mate of mine that has a very large vac former and he thinks he will be able to do most things we would require for the vans .so maybe we can get together and get some stuff made .if anyone wants his no pm me .cheers jw
