I'm spununit and I'm a motoraholic

Post  spununit on Thu 05 Dec 2013, 6:29 pm

Hi vanners, I'm new to the forum, thought I'd say hi. I'm a life long motor head, I'm into cars and bikes, and I collect petrol pumps, signs, and cool old garage stuff. I have a genuine low milage XB windowless van, previous one owner before me, he had it 39 years, always garaged, zero rust, fantastic original paint and beautiful original interior . Love the forum, it takes me back to being kid in high school 70s and reminds me of the car shows I went to in the 70s and 80s. Having a bit of trouble posting pics, so have not been able to do that yet. Johnny

wow2

Welcome to the forum Johnny!

I hope you enjoy your time here.  I am loving the look of your van, it is a credit to the previous owner to have kept it so well preserved over its lifetime.

Start a thread on it in the 'your van' section would love to see more of it!

Cheers,
Karl.

Thanks guys, still having a little trouble with the pics, got the daughter to help me load. The only mods to the XB are H4 head lights, cb and the new American racers, I still have the original wheels.  The van was purchased from Ray Thurling who ran Thurling transport, in Oaks Estate here in Canberra, Ray looked after the van like a baby, the spare wheel area, the rain gutters are mint, the car has a fantastic shine for almost 40 year old paint, the only touch up is on the left hand rear door. The van used have a 3 digit ACT rego plate, it was 933 which was sold before I bought the van.  The underside and inner wheel arches are all mint. Johnny

Oaks Estate was always a bit suss, with heaps of dodgy flats, and I'm sure there has been more than just cheap beer there for sale.  Maybe that's why the van lasted so long, no one expected it would be there. The old guy who owned the van has 8 foot fences all the way around the place with locked gates and there was no way people would even know it was there in a locked garage. I had known about it for fifteen years before a deal was done, it pays to be persistent. Johnny
