Hi Gary, I haven't contributed much here, but this looked like an interesting challenge. This is what I came up with it looks a bit rough but I hope it gives you an idea how it might look.

Plastic chrome equals = NO!
It never looks right. My opinion of course.
Looks like it come from a rattle can.

Finding someone that can do a decent job of chrome plating a plastic grill might be the hardest paint.

As for painting it chrome, hell no. Definitely not that rattle can Chrome Bright garbage the truckies use.

Maybe paint it back to the factory silverish/grey Gary?

There's. A number of different holden grilles
that you could easily screw in. To change the look.
Hj standard, hz , standard and then you have the statesman grilles in silver as well.
Along with the polished headlight surrounds will change the hole look of the front ....
Even add a statesman lower grill...

I'd still get it done and see it on the car, not a pic.
worst scenario is you paint it black again.

Wrap it in Alfoil and stand back and check it out.

You could always paint the grill the factory colour and polish the headlight surrounds like Neil suggested, it'd look different to the way it does now and ad some bling to her.

As a random thought...

You could gut a Chrysler 300C grill and place it into the Holden framework maybe!

You can get the grill vacuum metallize do .it's the process they use in the proto type industry .you will need to have the grill painted gloss black then send it to them but you cannot touch the surface to be chromed at all otherwise start again .hardest part is it is very expensive .there is also a paint by house of color that when done right is near perfect .also there is a 3M chrome tape product that is very stretchy and with lots of time you could do a grill .from when we have done it at work we would paint the grill with the chrome paint then when dry do all the leading edges with the 3M stuff .done right it would be awesom .last you could try overseas to get a couple chromed in China or the like .hope this info help .off to Octoberfest thumbsup

at the place that i worked it before my current job we made alloy grills for hiace and hiluxs honestly they were a bit of a mess but that was product of a shop with low pay and low standards

it isnt that hard the biggest thing it to mark and measure every thing very very accurately but with cnc water jet cutters there isnt much you couldn't make as long as you have a plan with how to to do it

i have been keen on making a grill again one day to a high level of quality not a low price but i just cant bring my self to change my stock ej grill i honestly don't think i could improve on perfection Razz
