Tidied the rear up a little more. Made a box to go over the battery box and made little infills for the tarp bar lugs.

Finally ready for rego. It’s been a slow few months because of work. I’ve found some 14 x 8’s for the rear and polished them up, tidied up the engine bay a little, cleaned the interior and fitted a dash mat and polished it to the nth degree in preparation for going for rego in a couple of weeks. Also found this cool pic of Seducer & Mr Damage on the FB site Old school Australian street machine. I can only upload 3 pics at a time so more will follow after this.

Beautiful afternoon today and I was able to get away from work early for once, so I clear coated my valance. First go at painting but I think it looks ok. No runs or orange peel what so ever so I’m pretty happy with it all. It’ll do for rego anyway. I’ll do another few coats of clear tomorrow afternoon so I can fit them on Sunday then it’s ready for rego at the end of next week. Do you sand between clear coats as I’ve had different people tell me different things to do.

Nice Work Jason! great

The Paint Supplier will give you good advice, but the instructions on the Can are usually pretty reliable.

I'm no expert and it will depend on what level of finish you wish to achieve in regards to sanding between coats.

As best I know, you don't need to Clear over Solid Colours. I did use Clear over Solid when I Painted the "Wife's" Van. I had painted Stripes on it and it was more as a Leveller and as Protection where I had done some Airbrushing.

When I did the Clear it was allow it to Flash Off and apply the next Coat, as per the instructions on the Can.

I hope that is of some help.

Thanks for the info Rusty. I was clear coating because I’m sure Dazed’s original paint was clear coated. My paint guy did say that I didn’t need to clear coat. After rego I’m going to try and do the front spoiler it had many years ago, so the valance will be removed again. I’ll need to learn to do fibreglassing for that. The many joys of automobile restoration ????

You're welcome Jason.

Makes sense.

Fibreglassing isn't that hard. There's a few important safety Rules. A lot and I mean a LOT of Waxing. Understanding Release Angles. A Good Eye and Imagination help a lot too.

Finished the valance and it’s fitted. Colour match is spot on. Yes the spoiler will look great once it’s done Rusty. Only hope it doesn’t ruin its street ability by being too low. That’s a while off yet.

I done my white lettering in the afternoon. I use 800 & 1500 grit wet & dry. I also polished Dazed with  Bowden’s Boss Gloss so it looks great for rego. That is without doubt the best polish out. I now only use Bowden’s products now because of Boss Gloss. I’m not sure if Hume still operates, I’ve only left it on because I had no plates to put there but I will this week.

Top Job Jason! great

The Chrome Strip at the Join goes well with everything else.

Think different ideas/methods for Whitening the Letters is interesting. I used Jiff and a Scrubbing Brush to clean my Tyres back ion the day. lol! It would make the Tyres Black again and the White Letters White again. Then at Shows, ArmourAll to make them shine.

Woohoo, Dazed passed its blue slip yesterday and I’ll go get my plates today. Part 1 of the rebuild is finished and I get to enjoy cruising now. Now I can get my paint touch ups completed and start looking at chroming my rear springs, diff and tail shaft and get my exhaust ceramic coated black. Here are some pics it went for blueslip. It got polished and polished and polished so it looked great for its inspection. It certainly got a lot of looks and thumbs up’s as I towed it to the Blue slip guy.

That's one fine ute. Great to see it again.
It's funny you guys mention the tyre lettering cleaning as I couldn't find a way to restore some truck mudflaps (the black and red Kenworth ones) and stumbled upon using soap filled steel wool pads only because I was trying to remove some surface rust on the chrome mudflap weights.
Brings the red and white lettering on the black surface up like new.

Fitted the new plates, gave it a clean and went for a little drive today seeing as the weather was so nice. It feels good being able to go for a drive when ever I want in it now.
