Re: Dazed & Confused HJ ute
I’ve been flat out with work the past 12 mths and the old 308 in Dazed was getting tired, so I decided to splash out so I bought this 304 for it tonight. It’s nothing over the top, but it’ll be very reliable now and I’ll certainly get it out a lot more than I have. I might try to get to the van nats with it this year if I can get away from work.

Thanks Rusty.
Hopefully the motor will be installed in the next 2 weeks and I’ll be cruising once more. I’ll post more pics when it’s finished.
Hopefully van nats 2020 here we come

Re: Dazed & Confused HJ ute
The motor got fitted and started for the first time last weekend. It ran perfectly. It just needs a couple of small tidy up pieces (new exhaust connection after extractors, an oil catch can, and a couple of new hoses) and Dazed will be cruising once more, hopefully by this weekend. It’ll be good to have it back home where it belongs

Re: Dazed & Confused HJ ute
I tried to upload a vid of the new motor running but the file is too big. Is there a way to upload vids?

Re: Dazed & Confused HJ ute
The motor is finished and after a hole day cleaning, Dazed is cruising the streets again. I still have to clean the underside though which I hate doing as I don’t have a hoist. The motor has plenty of grunt and it’s got a nice throaty note to it. I’m still going to try & get to the van nats with it.

Re: Dazed & Confused HJ ute
A question for the brains trust - What’s the best product to clean rubber hoses with?

Also what have you guys used to stick polished plate or acrylic mirror with. I’m thinking of putting it on the underside of the bonnet.

Re: Dazed & Confused HJ ute
Back in Black! Looking Great Jason!
You could probably try using some Degreaser to clean the Hoses. Back in the Day I used Armourall to clean them and leave them Nice and Shiny!
Similarly with the Tyres, I would Scrub them with Jiff, which would bring the White up Real Nice as well and the Armourall them. Multi-purpose that Armourall! LOL!
I've never stuck Mirrors under my Bonnets. I assume you would need a Good Quality Double Sided Tape from the 3M Range. Would need to withstand Heat.
I hope that helps.

Re: Dazed & Confused HJ ute
Thanks for the reply Rusty. I heard turps is good to keep hoses black but I didn’t know how it would affect the integrity of rubber. I’ll give armourall a go. It’s a shame the nats have been cancelled but it’s probably the right thing to do in these uncertain times with the Coronavirus. The new motor is performing great and I’m loving being able to cruise again .

Always good to take them out for a spin. Put's a smile on your dial!
She certainly is a time capsule, looking quite good after your efforts and all these years.

It sure does Smooth, there’s nothing as enjoyable as going for a cruise . I plan on getting the paint corrections done this year and I’m still debating if I get the diff & springs chromed or ceramic coated. If I don’t chrome the diff, I’d like to smooth & paint the diff and maybe get Wayne to do a mural on it. I like the way this looks on Vanpyre. If the weather permits, I’ll be cruising all weekend

Re: Dazed & Confused HJ ute
Chromeplated would look excellent. But the cost to get it done right would be very scary.
Ceramic coating would look a bit cheap (even though it isn't).
