STRAIGHT GAS, PETROL or DUAL FUEL
I asked this question on Facebook also.
The pros and cons of running straight gas, petrol or dual fuel. Car has gas system fitted but not in what condition or if out of date. Your thoughts please?

Re: STRAIGHT GAS, PETROL or DUAL FUEL
dual fuel is ok as long as you run it on both once a week,
both joe and i run straight gas with no problem,
the advantage of dual fuel is you can get a jerry can of petrol
if you run out, they don't sell gas in jerry cans lol
tanks don't cost much to redate if you take it out yourself

Re: STRAIGHT GAS, PETROL or DUAL FUEL
I personally wouldn't run dual fuel,I'd run one or the other as a deadicated fuel
You can tune properly for one but not the other.
With petrol you can get just about anywhere.
Fit dual tanks & you've got a 140 litres to run around on.If your worried about the price of fuel I'm sure you'll only be useing the van on a weekend run
Well I know you have plenty to think about now Mully.

Re: STRAIGHT GAS, PETROL or DUAL FUEL
Hi Mully,
A bit of context here will help me. Are you saying you’re thinking of getting a car converted? Or you’ve bought one that’s currently dual fuel...? And is it fuel injected?
Let me know and I'll give you my two bob’s worth of opinion.
Cheers,
Rohan.

Re: STRAIGHT GAS, PETROL or DUAL FUEL
Thanks Rohan,
As Neil said, I've got a van that has gas tank fitted. I'm not sure how old gas system is though.
Motor is 304.
Still in the build stage (when I get my garage back

Re: STRAIGHT GAS, PETROL or DUAL FUEL
I’ve owned a few gas cars over the years (straight gas, duel fuel, carby, injected. You name it)
If it’s carby, I’d commit to either one or the other, dedicated system. Not duel fuel. Since you already have the gas hardware installed, it won’t be a huge dollar commitment to go either way.
For fuel injected you could run dual fuel if you want, but I’d humbly say commit to gas so not having to compromise tuning/engine set up.
I’ve never had issues with injected on gas.
Also worth noting, nowadays there are plenty of options with donut and scuba style tanks, so you can get plenty of volume and good fit options. My AU wagon has the 116 litre scuba style (legally can only be filled 80%, so 92 litres usable capacity). If I was keen I could also jam a donut tank in somewhere as well.
And gas on the Border here has been at 50 cents a litre for a year or more now......

Re: STRAIGHT GAS, PETROL or DUAL FUEL
my HX van was on straight gas when i got it(253 AUTO) i could not get it of quick enough. i have since gone injected 5.0L & 4 speed auto. costs about the same to run and goes better. i suppose it depends on how many klm per year you do though. mine seems to do less klm each year.
cheers

Going on my past record with Dual Fuel Mate.....
IS.... that it's either GOOD on one &&&&& a pig on the other, YOU know yourself..... IF your tank/tanks are big enough
you will be right.....
&&&&&& IT'S cheaper to run & if there is good '' HORSEPOWER'' NO PROPLEM
