I remember seeing these somewhere. Custom Vans and Trucks perhaps? Subarus have changed a lot over the years!

It was BloBak.

I think it had a WB Front.

It had a couple of different paint jobs as it evolved.

The one above is definitely John Zeigler's though. (spelling not necessarily correct)

Blo Bak was a local Ute in Morwell owned by a guy called Alan Cooper who owned a local window tint company, Had 350 Chev in rear with Caddy gearbox ( Front wheel Version) and a 253 in front, He used to say that 253 couldnt keep up with Blown 350, was a super nice car as a blown ute and then was sorter cool with rear engine and then went crap with body mods as he turned his business into a panel shop as well- long story, i will see if I can find a photo of him doing a skid with the rear tyres on fire he gave to me many many years ago, Cheers Andrew.

I will also confirm it as Zeiglers Ute . Saw It heaps of times in the 70's . Kind of a favourite of mine. Always looked first class whenever and wherever it turned up.

John Parson's built a ute that looked alot like Blobak, his was featured in C,V&T. Was tubbed and had a big block and chop top. Blobak also won Street Machine of the Year in 1988 I think.

I'm pretty sure I remember reading in Street Machine that it had the Chev removed and turned back into a normal streeter. I'll have to try and find the issue it was in. Wink

I know this is a bit of a thread dig but I was just talking to Alan Cooper, and the ute ended up having the 350 removed and put into a family friends Panelvan and the body etc was sold to a young bloke who soon after wrapped it around a tree and wrote it off Sad I think that the chassis was also seperated from the car too.
Now Al owns an xf Panelvan bright orange!
