Forum etiquette
Hey all,
For the most part we here at the Majestic Vanners Forum have enjoyed a pretty much problem free existence. Sure we have had our ups and downs and general disagreements, but this is part and parcel of being in a highly passionate sub-culture of automotive enthusiasts.
But there is a couple of things that I would like to discuss here that are likely to get you on the wrong side of the moderators on this forum.
Do not come on to this forum if your prime motive is to cause trouble, arguements or to push peoples buttons. Any abuse or ill treatment of any member on here will not be tolerated, and will see you banned. You will get a warning that you are getting close, but cross that line and you will be banned, no questions asked.
eg. To call a modern VY sandman/AMCAT converted panelvan 'just a ute' is not clever, this arguement has been done to death, and quite frankly I am over it, as are most people on here. - Move on people! It does not make you a big man to point this out, its not like you are picking a fake GTHO at 500 meters, you are obviously set in your opinion and are purely seeking to push peoples buttons.
We are all about uniting Vanners not dividing them!
Another issue I have is with spelling or using text speech. I am not talking about genuine spelling mistakes, everyone does that. I am talking about deliberate mispelling or sms shortening of words. It annoys me no end on other forums and I am quite proud that we don't have the issue here. SMS language was born out of the fact you had to repeatedly press a number on an old phone to get the letter you wanted and you were limited to the amount of letters you could use in a message. Those days are gone with the introduction of smart phones with full qwerty keypads and unlimited sms size. You are more than likely sitting down at a computer when you are on the forum, with a full keyboard in front of you... use it!
Sorry guys I will finish my rant now...

Re: Forum etiquette
Fully support your rant Karl and one of the offenders has been dealt with earlier tonight.
I'd rather spend my time on here constructively and helping people than dealing with d1ckheads.
We all love vans, that's why we're here, I love some more than others but generally appreciate them all.
Now let's keep the dream alive and keep on truckin'!
Cheers Rob

Re: Forum etiquette
Gday All I tried to give Karls rant a thumbs Up but I don't know if it worked( I hope it didn't appear as a down)due to my lack of keyboard skills.
I was under the impression this site was for Van Lovers in whatever form or breed they are. So it makes ya wonder why some feel the need to give negative opinions which of cause is as useful as a Chocolate Tea Pot.
Keep up the good work on providing a great place for an old fart like me to learn a thing or too.
Cheers Baz

Re: Forum etiquette
Good on you Baz, fully agree.
But you took 4 years to come up with your support of Karl's post.
Also this is NOT facebook there are no thumbs up or thumbs down on this forum (except to bring you to either the top or bottom of a page).
I'm sure Karl appreciates your personal thumbs up.
Regards, Smooth

Re: Forum etiquette
Yes I do appreciate your support Baz, thank you!
Thankfully this IS not facebook, as the amount of people causing trouble on there is 100 times worse than what we deal with on the forum...
