Welcome to the MV forum Neal
Glad to see I'm not the only one crazy enough to hang on to there van for
such a long time.
It looks great in the pics ,I'm sure it'll clean up nicely..
The Falcon 500 was just a tad up market on some of the luxuries compared to the plain falcons.
AT least ford are a little more helpful on the numbers ,From what I've heard Holden carnt read there old ones...

lol!

Post  Rooboy Fri 02 Oct 2015, 9:21 pm

Hi all, my Name is David. Back in the day, I owned several vans from HQ to HZ. Unfortunately a growing family meant my HZ Sandman had to go. Now that they are grown up I have started my collection again. I have two WB vans, one registered, the other in a sea container at the family farm. Currently tidying up the registered vehicle and really enjoying the trials and tribulations that go with it. The thing I enjoy the most is my weekly drive, with the window down and the rumbling of the V8, the memories flood back. It has an injected system on a HX block and a 4 speed auto behind it. Plan to put a manual behind it for a bit of fun (would like to do 6 speed conversion, not sure how yet), the engine e bay is a mess and the associated wiring and mounting of injection components a pig of a job. Starting to get ideas of how it will pan out, but concentrating on the body at the moment.

Cheers Very Happy Very Happy

G'day. My name is Dave and I live in Medowie, NSW. I'm a Ford Fan. I love Fords. I've owned an XB Falcon, a '65 Galaxie, a TE Cortina, and an XD Falcon. I live in Ford Ave (seriously). My favourite cars are hot rods and vans. I'm married to Jeanette and we have two kids but I'm sorry to say that they were not conceived in a van. Back in the mid '80s, I owned a '79 Toyota HiAce that was a bucket of Woopsie but also the greatest car I ever owned, purely because it was a van. HiAces are ugly and grossly underpowered and ever since I sold it, I've always wanted another van that wasn't ugly or underpowered. With nothing to my liking on the Australian market (I put motorbikes in my van so a regular panel van is not big enough) I went without and owned a bunch of other, non-descript cars. Then, I decided you only live once so I bought the van I'd always wanted since seeing Breaker Breaker (starring Chuck Norris) back in 1975 - a 3rd generation Ford Econoline. The one I bought is an E-250 Club Wagon, XLT (has everything that opens and shuts) with a 460ci big block, C-6 trans, fully floating and LS Dana 60 rear end, and 8-lug wheels. I've done some minor work to it and intend doing some major stuff over the next 6 months or so.

Blur1,
Mind if I call you Blur? There is a Holden fan living in the street. I haven't met him but he's had a street sign made which says Holden Ave and he has it at his front boundary, pointing down his driveway. He also has a couple of FJs down there. One of these days, I'll have to go and read him the riot act.

I have lots of pics of my van (which I call Big Henry) but when I click on the Insert Image icon (2 to the left of You Tube) it asks for a url. What's that about? If someone can tell me how to post pics, that'd be great.

Yes, the Dana is quite big and heavy. It makes a 9"er look like a toy.

Here's a pic taken at the dealership. The mirrors were removed so it'd go into the container, and I removed the running boards soon after I got it.

This is the motor - a 385 series 460 big block. I changed the plugs and leads the other week. God, what a job.

Hi there,

Been hanging around here for too long so I thought I would drop in and say 'Hi'.

We live in Maitland, I am outnumbered 3 to 1 here at home (wife and two daughters). My eldest is my right hand man when it comes to anything to do with the pano. Always her first choice of vehicle to go to school in, or anywhere for that matter.

When I returned to the area from up north, I wanted a B 'n' S ute to bring back, but none to be had. I found my van virtually next to where I lived.
One owner, 152 000k's on the taxi dash, not a hole in it by the way. Bench seat, 173 no nonsense three on the tree, rubber mat, external sun visor and mesh windscreen protector. Oh and cheese cutters. (Skinny tyres).

Now she sports Statesman interior, VY SS leather seats, 3.08 diff, turbo 400, 350 Chev bored out 30 thou with mild cam, (thanks to Tony Webster @ Carrington), 14" Drag ways, dual exhaust. I deliberately asked for cast exhaust manifolds, it suits me noise wise. I retro fitted the air-con myself with a VL Calais A/C compressor.

I see my van has featured in the Vans Spotted section.  cheers

I can confirm she is never neglected  Laughing   and is well treated, pampered and locked up every night. As you can see, she is washed regularly,
(every three years whether she needs it or not).   Shocked

Although I have had offers, I don't think my daughter would forgive me, in fact she would not, if I got rid of it.  Embarassed

Anyway, M.V looks like a fun place to be around, looking foreward to having some laughs.

Hi Everyone. I'm Jason - thanks for the add. I live in Halls Gap Victoria and met a few of the guys and gals a couple of weeks ago and found out about the group. My first car was an XY panelvan which started my love of vans. Recently bought an HX panelvan but unfortunately I hit a kangaroo the second day I had it. It's currently in bits in my shed but plan to get it back on the road next year. Anyway - that's a bit about me and look forward reading about what everyone is up to.

Hi All

Thanks for the add. No panel van as yet but I am soon to inherit a 1988 XF Falcon panel Van. Always wanted a van this will be my first. Needs a bit of work as it was used by a painter since new but has been sitting in his shed for the past 10 years with only weekly trips to the supermarket.

3 speed manual with power steering, everything else is stock.

cheers

Hi I'm Sam. I am hoping someone can help me locate a member who owns a VG valiant with the the registration OVG 265. They have made a modification to the headlights that I think is awesome and I would desperately like to discuss it with them. (I'm sorry if I've chosen the wrong area to post this)

Hey all. I've just bought my first panny, a '72 HQ Belmont. My partner keeps walking past me and saying something along the lines of "mid-life crisis". I don't understand the crisis bit; I'm loving it.
I have 0% restoration and maybe 5% mechanical experience, so expect some dumb questions!

Cheers,

Hi There

So I'm Kyle and Wife is Leanne. We have 3 kids between us and none of them drive a van YET!!

We have owned our WB 202 van since 2014. it has been, like most vans been changed modified and turned into something far from what rolled off the factory floor. Our intention is to put the Wb front end back on, remove all traces of statesman interior, basically go back to basic black cabin and deck out the rear with something interesting.

The van itself is in quite good nick having replaced all the undercarriage, that means every bush, bearing, rotor pad sway bar you name it its done.

I'm looking forward to asking as many questions both dumb and dumber and to get to meet as many of you as possible.

I will post a picture of eh van in the coming days.

We live in the outskirts of Sydney NSW

G'day Kyle, Leanne and Jazz? (Gee I hope I got that right?)

Great to meet up yesterday on the Sydney Van Run at Penrith. We hope you had a good time with friendly Vanners.
Your WB Van certainly has plenty of potential. Looked like a HX to be from a distance in that colour and the Statesman nose.

Hope you and family make the next run.

Regards, Smooth Cool

Thanks guys. It was great to meet you all on the Sydney run. Smooth well done on the memory, Jazz (aka Jazmin) so well done.

Nice picture Cherone and thanks, cant wait for the next run, although in the next few months Smurfette will be off the road for a full respray, and yes in the same colour although not the original colour. The WB front end will also return. That is the current plan and things could change.

Hope to have Smurfette back on the road by July/August.

See you all again soon.
