Van Trivia
Righteo guys on another post we had the question asked:
Name 2 vans that got burnt out and name 3 things they had in common? We came up with Mid Summers Dream and Star Warrior and Troy said they both had Jag rear ends.
Can anyone name 2 other things these vans in common?
And the new question is............
Name 2 vans that shared the same name and who owned them?(Or describe them, or use pics!)

Re: Van Trivia
We could make it harder and ask for 3 or more vans that shared the same names! But we'll start with just a pair of vans that shared the same name! And if no one else can get it Rusty, you better step up!
So name 2 vans with the same name and who owned them or describe them if your not sure who owns them! Let the games begin!

Re: Van Trivia
Correct JJ, the XB was owned by the guy that occasionally did cartoons for C,V and T and the yellow Kingswood is owned by Stuart Marshall.SMQQTH wrote:stormbringer
yellow HZ kingswood van
xb van maybe?
Other possible answers might have been...
Buccaneer Stephen Haines' HQ and another brown Holden van
Wizard Rob Heinrich's HZ and the green Transit van
Innervisions Craig Godbee's Holden and David Holmes Blue Holden.
And Im sure there was plenty of other "double ups" over the years.
Next question......
Name the van and its owner that won the Australian Van Nats only to be told hours later he had to give the winners trophy back because the judges had stuffed up and he'd came second instead. Here's a clue after driving back to "Newcastle" he than got a phone call from the Van Nats organisers saying he had to send the 2nd place trophy back because he'd actually came 3rd! After this stuff up he never had the van judged again and very rarely showed it.
Any takers.........

Re: Van Trivia
I don't know the answer but man, what a screw up. I don't blame him for not showing the van as much after that.
Re: Van Trivia
It was when the Victorian/New South Wales rivalary was going strong, the Victorians always ran the event and couldn't build vans to compete with the NSW ones so they changed the rules to suit themselves. And the judging results often showed this!

Re: Van Trivia
Correct it was Innocents which built by Geoff Cook. Who is a really nice bloke, Geoff attended our Majestic Vanners reunion BBQ and told us heaps about his old van.hell raiser wrote:Hey Rob was Innocents
Here's a photo of Innocents.
And Geoffs the bloke in the yellow hat in the middle of the front row.
Some of the other famous faces in the photo are:
Dave Marsh-Street Legal
Stephen Haines-Buccaneer
Craig Godbee-Innervisions
Which brings us to our next question?
Who built and fitted the crossmembers and Jag diffs to Street Legal,Innervisions and Checkmate?

We're all getting good at this!
So here's the next question!
Name the van that was bought brand new in July 1975 and travelled only 12,000km's before the original 202 4 speed was removed and replaced with a some what larger engine and box. It never won the van nats but did place in the Top 3 several times!
What was it's name and who built it?

Re: Van Trivia
Sorry Guys
I didn't want to be the one answering all the Trivia questions as I thought it was a bit selfish.
My guess is Steve Haines' Buccaneer, which is one of the best built and detailed Vans there has ever been. For some reason it just never had the accolades it deserved.
Regards
Rusty!

Should have read the Question morely closely.
The answer should have been Buccaneer by Steve Haines.

Don't think Buccaneer was ever entered into the van nats and I will think you will find thats why it doesn't have the accolades it deserved.

Re: Van Trivia
Who two different answers! For it to be sold it new in July '75 it would be a HJ, so this counts Buccaneer out as it was a HQ. Although Buccaneer did start out as a 6 cylinder and progress to a 253.
The answer was as SMQQTH said.........Van Rat built by Steve Abbott.
Since Rusty mentioned one of my favourite vans Buccaneer we'll incorporate it into our next question!
The next question is:
Stephen Haines' Buccaneer had a tool compartment door fitted to the passenger side behind the door, name another HQ-HZ van that had one? It was also featured in C,V and T!
