thought i had the silver one in mackay but the guy and his mate sat in it last night and had a few beers and he came to realise what he would be missing and decided not to sell... bugga..he was very apoligetic but i told him i know where he's coming from and don't blame him for wanting to hang onto it...so the search continues...left a message for the orange one on gumtree..has'nt returned my call...yeh i think WA is out unless a smick one turns up.. the orange WB on ebay sold before christmas on there and the guy who sold it has a yellow hz 90% complete in brisbane and ive been in talks with him about that one ..emailed him curious if that was his old wb he said yes he sold it to 2 chicks ...why its for sale again who knows ...smells a bit fishy...i might put the call out to see if the are any MV members in brisbane willing to look at the hz before i go to the expense of flying up for a look.[once i get some more detals from this bloke]..happy to post up a bottle shop voucher for their trouble...another guy the mackay fellow has had dealings with in byron bay has 2 vans for sale and is shooting me thru some pics/ details tonight and ive put an add in the local rag ...must be getting closer to snagging one

fit the statofront apron, put it on LPG and sell of the rest and you've got a great van for stuff all

yeh looked at that but that means getting 2 vehicles across the water..might keep an eye on the blue one on ebay..got a couple of replies from my add in local paper ...first one sounded good on the phone ...wb 253 4 speed little bit of rust etc $4000...... a mate and i went to check it out..FAIR DINKUM talk about laugh chook crap all over it inside and out.. full of rust and bog ,not a decent panel on it and had been painted fire engine red with a brush..but the chick there assured me the motor purred like a kitten if i wanted her to get a battery out of the rusted out hj ute and kick it in the guts...lol another wb 6cyl to check out today for $3000 ...maybe ill end up with a project instead of a driveaway car

hunt may be over the guy from mackay [silver hz] had a serious think over the weekend and has decided to reluctantly let it go...so pending inspection it might be coming my way ...thanks to all for keeping on the lookout... still wont count those chickens till its in my driveway

Hey gents I'm in a similar circumstance to tastig but living in wa. After searching for a van here and finding nothing I'm forced to look over east too. Just wondering if anyone has seen the 72 HQ on car sales going for $8500 and recons it's a decent buy? I would post a link but been a new member here I can't yet. Anyway it looks blue in the photos guy says its green though and located in Vic. That white one did look the goods too just need one to make the drive back to Perth.

[typo its a hj not hz]...just a heads to be careful dealing with the guy on ebay who has the hq van for sale user name fatvan007 ...the guy im getting the van off bought a yellow hj ute off him site unseen and was promised it was a1 but when it arrived it was only good for wrecking ... goes without saying old mate in mackay wants to tear him a new one ...and at 6'2 and 115 kg id be having a couple of sleepless nights if i was fatvan...its even got the same plates on it as the ute ...are you after 6 or 8 ...got the details of a neat looking hz replica 6 in brisbane that the guy was about to put interior etc back in ready for reg ...wants 10900 assembeled...started at 13 as is im sure he is keen to move it but would need to inspect first shoot me a pm and ill email photos etc if interested

That hz looks ok have to check it out in person just not keen on the bug catcher the less attention the better. Trying to find a few in one rough area because I can't afford to fly all over. Tinter that's the one I ment, has anyone seen it getting around? That white WB in vic is the other van iv been lookig closly at and might be the go. Sent a pm tastig and an 8 would be prefered but if it's in bad shape then it's a no good, got to be reliable enough to make the drive back to Perth. Il be getting in contact with both those sellers see how I go. Still have 1 month before I can make the trip over which is a bummer but anyway hope some thing decent will still be up for sale.

mate the guys name is victor 0435 753 635 i was very close to flying up to have a look at this one [yellow hz 6cyl] ...sent him an email telling him i found another and he was happy to pass his details on ....the orange one on ebay started out at $12500 till he found it dropped a valve now $9500 prob get it cheaper ....couple of grand and the motor would be sweet... a few body work tidy ups though

Its been a fair while since i gave an update but i did continue the search and struck out on a couple, there was a nice looking HX but the motor wasn't healthy (main seal leaking). Good news is though, found myself a WB fitted with a Blue 308 and will be in my name by the end of the week
