TAIL TENTS

hello boys n girls,i had a meeting today with the guy that is doing the tailtents..the same guy has done the hatch hutches and they are very good....anyway i was a little involved with them to start and now im more involved....

question i need to put to everyone for comment is....

how many people would like to buy a tailtent without the holden log but still with tail tent written on it as per original...??

the reason for the deletion of the lion on some would be because the tailtents will fit all the early vans hg backwards and the holden lion in that style is for hj to wb..we cannot use the early logo as its too hard but do have approval for the later logo...

price wise its looking like just under $400 ...maybe less..

Hey Greg did they originally make tail tents for pre HQ style vans? Honestly mate if I was to buy one I'd prefer the lion on it. Cheers Rob

rob i believe they came out in hj/hx in line with the lx hatch hutch...so about 1976.

from hd it is the same roof all the way to wb...height difference is only about 3 to 4 inches so they will fit all the early vans back to hd comfortably ...fb to eh hasnt been tried but ive seen a pic of one on an eh and it looked ok..

this is why im asking to figure out if people with early vans would like one without the late logo or they really wouldnt care or they really wouldnt buy one coz its technically not right...mind you its an accessory for all vans even frauds and wogboxes as long as it aint got barn doors..

Greg I'd put the lion on and make it correct. As you said they never came out for HR's etc so it wont be correct for them anyway, so I'd cater for the HJ onwards brigade. But that's just me.

rob,our main objective is to do them as original with the logo...
its just a thought to do them without the logo as something different to cater for other people with vans that want to use them for purposes other than display...maybe even ford and chrysler owners if they fit...

thats why i am putting the question out there so we can gauge wether its worthwhile....if there is not enough call for it then we dont do them without logo.

the tailtents with logo are in the process and if everything goes smoothly it should only be a couple of months..
the same people have already done the hatch hutches last year so it will be a lot simpler as the tail tents use the same materials...

yeh i reckon they would rob if you look at the pic the tailgate is up n its higher than the spoiler....if it doesnt just stretch the prick...

here is a pic of the nos sample which was fitted to my old van back in march...

and this next pic is the sample sent back to us for fitting before giving approval for manufacture..these pics were taken this morning..PLEASE NOTE IT IS A SAMPLE ONLY and the production will be done as per original which is the first pic..bloody slow process but we are happy with the sample fit up overall...

1cm by 2cm to be exact rob...its the sample so we will have the bugs fixed...

A mate of mine called in yesterday with an original tailtent and still packed nice and neat in its original bag,it was given to him by his uncle who was cleaning out a garage for someone he asked me if I wanted it and you can guess the answer to that and no it is not for sale how lucky to get an original.
