bluEJay is DEAD
dont panic bluEJay and me both made it home safely if only just
on my way home just after Gundagai that tiny littel flicker on my volt meter that i pointed out to tony on the way back in from the mystery cruse on satday turned in to a massive black out across all systems i mean bluEJay just up and died
then like a phonix strated to work her engine fires to life and was back on the road
then dead
then alive
and so on till i nursed her home and parked her in front of the garage
i unpacked her this after noon went to turn the keys and nothing
DEAD
i think she was running on the way home purely on my will to get home and her will not to be gutted and hot wired on the side of the road
so i think she is dead till i put the new gear box in and rewire her at the some time give it a few weeks and she will be back on the road better than ever
just rember there is nothing that cant be
wired
soldered
welded
painted
or
FIXED
ps i hope ever one els had a LESS event full trip home

Re: bluEJay is DEAD
Had me mega worried when I read your heading Dean.
Thankfully she made it home, was cool cruising home down the highway with you, JJ and Tony and a heap of Hot Rods.
I'm sure you'll sort her out mate having checked out some of your other work, I know you'll more than do her justice.
Cheers Rob

Re: bluEJay is DEAD
Gave me a small heart attack reading your title mate!
I really love the look of your van, us windowed holden boys need to stick together!
(gives them character I reckon)
Glad you got the bluejay back home ok, thankfully mine ran like a dream on the run home.
Best of luck with fitting the gearbox and rewiring the old girl, I look forward to checking out your improvements next time we meet.
Cheers,
Karl.

Re: bluEJay is DEAD
Only drama's for me was i blew a seal in the radiator cap..... fluid everywhere again.!!!!!
Luckily the bush mechanic stepped in, chopped up my trusty stubbie holder & sealed the radiator with it.
Then drove to the next town Bendigo & brought a new one.
Cheers Al.

Re: bluEJay is DEAD
Something similar happened to me once, swapped motor and gearbox with my brother in a day and driving home the volt gauge and power went all woopsie, pulled over and some dumbass had just forgotten to tighten up the wire that goes to the back of the alternator (me), all good and funny now . Hope yours is something simple too.
Cheers Mark

Re: bluEJay is DEAD
i just a was starting to hot wire bluEJay
i was looking how to get the screw driver down to the starter so i could start her now with the new extractors and had a close look at the wires from the starter to the loom and noticed that the extractors had melted the wires together causing the loss off power as the wire shorted out
i crumbled the heat sheld like it was a sayo
i pulled the wires apart and bingo she sprung to life
im still planing to rewire her though

The Blue Q didn't wont to turn off when Dno nosed her into the shed. Another ignition barrel bites the dust. Nothing near as drastic as just didn't wont to stop after such a great weekend!

the ingition works and dosent die and the motor turns over even better she gave a cough / sneeze
i forgot to block the fule line as i was cranking her over so was the fule pump it was spraying fule near the inlet she sucked some in and started the run
i think this means im good to put her back together on wed after i giive the extractors a second coat of paint tomoro and heat the paint so it sets to the extractors on wednesday we are good to go
just my luck it will rain all weekend and i wont ba able to take her out for a drive

Awesome Dean!
Another van recovers from a triple bypass and rises like a pheonix from the ashes!
