Based on the current exchange rate on www.xe.com, $ NZD 8000 = $ AUD 6288.49, as at today.
Its a bargain but then you have to get it here.
How much did it cost Rob for your van from NZ in freight/shipping?

It cost $2000 for the freight and another $1800 by the time you add all the bullshit government charges and fees involved with getting it through customs. So to answer the question around the $3800-4000 mark.Blue Diamond wrote:How much did it cost Rob for your van from NZ in freight/shipping?
But I wanted it so...........
I would've paid twice that!

Nice looking van - it say "sandman spec", so I'd make sure it was a real Sandman before I went to the trouble of trying to import it.
Even then, when you add the $4k it would cost to get it over here, you might find a gen-you-wine one here already for the price.

Re: cheap or to dear
I'm guessing it'll cost "Arty" Alex a Tank of Petrol to get it home, which is pretty good.
He lives in New Zealand.
From the Site the Van is listed on and the reference to a Warrant "WOF" I'm guessing the Van is too.
Regards
Rusty!

Re: cheap or to dear
Yeah Jamie but New Zealands next door the states is halfway around the world! I also avoided paying GST because we argued that mine was an Australian built and delivered car simply returning home. Where as if you import a car manufactured O/S you have to pay GST on it so I saved around $1200 there.FreeMason wrote:you done well Rob for that price. all up it cost my mate $9K to get a caddy from the states

Yeah towards the end I just wanted it to finish, was sick of the delays, government red tape and hassles. The problem is they've got you over a barrell, have your vehicle and can pretty much charge as they want. Your mate must've really got f%cked over.FreeMason wrote:he got charges 2.5k for an unpacking fee. 4k for customs. i think they were just plucking numbers out of the air in the end
The people who brought mine in where http://www.tradelanes.com.au/ in Australia and the New Zealand end it was http://gtlogistics.co.nz/shipping/automotive.htm
Phil in NZ and Stewart at Tradelanes were great and I cant recommend them highly enough, if I was to bring anything else back into Australia from NZ I'd use these guys for sure and if brought something back from the states I'd get Tradelanes to do it for me.

Wow! I'm impressed that you saved some money on the GST Rob. As you say, they can charge what they want so I'm amazed they listened and acted accordingly.
I'd hate to think how much Vandil's Camaro cost to ship over here - hopefully we will see him in Albury and get the dirt.
