HQ - WB rear end info please
ok, st trying to make up my mind what im actually going to do as yet so im trying to do some planning as such first
I have a big alloy headed 372 cube stroker that made some pretty serious grunt with 17psi through a blower so im planning on putting that into an early van to avoid the pollution laws so ill probably go HJ as im not keen on HQ dash (like the front though) and the HX on have ADR 27A (yuk)
now i would also like a WB stato front but im not sure it will give me room for a cooler and still leave enough air flow for radiator so im thinking short bumpers and full length grille (how hard is it to find HX SL/E lower grille)
would like to fit a full fibreglass front and tail gates but have it look just like a normal van with maybe some pumped guards and funfy bonnet scoop
need some questions answered if anyone can help
1) Anyone got some close ics of a WB Stato front with grille removed?
2) Anyone done a step by step on building a full length grille?
3) Can i use a fibreglass front apron with full grille?
4) How wide is a disc brake rear end compared to a VN-VS? Anyone ever put one in a van
5) What's the widest tyre you can get under without any guard mods?
6) If i took the rim/tyre all the way into the rail how wide can i go and would mini tubbs do or would i be cutting out heaps
7) What's the biggest anyones seen under pumped guards like XX-308 style
For those that have a good memory - there was a draw type set up on pass side of Buckeneer, how much room's under there?
9) Any clearance issue with TH400 on HJ floor?
10) Will WB dash just bolt into HJ - also whats needed to fit a GTS dash
11) How wide is the space under the top section of a standard guard (the flat secion where the standard antenna goes) need 3" for pipes

Re: HQ - WB rear end info please
Gees there's a list and a half! Pretty sure between us we can nearly get all the answers though.
1. Phil or Rhino may have pics.
2. Rusty is the man for this, his wagon runs one thats done properly.(no cable ties)
3. Cant see why not.
4. Not sure of the width but a friend put the complete driveline out of a Maloo ute into his HZ ute with minimum fuss. Main issues were cutting and welding spring mounts and hooking up handbrake cables. I'll talk to a mate on the weekend and find out more for you.
5. Fairly sure Rhino had 275 width tyres on Icepik.
6. The tyre will hit the body before the chassis rail, if you cut the inside across the top of the wheel well and around the bottom and weld an inch or so flat in to space it out it'll clear all the way to chassis rails than and still look factory from the inside.
7. Tub350 had 295's under his van.
8. Buccaneer's storage space idea was a good one and unique, it's size depends on you really, there is quiet a bit of space in the body cavity. But you'd have to be pretty sure of yourself before cutting into the side of your shell!!!!
9. None they were factory fitted with them.
10. Pretty sure it will, Rhino will know more.
11. Not sure but I'm sure we can measure for you, inner guards might cause you grief though mate.
Fairly sure the guys can be more specific on these questions and fill you in on all the info you need.
Cheers Rob

Re: HQ - WB rear end info please
My Suggestion is,go to the RTA first as things have changed, then they will tell you to consult an engineer which is common sense.
With the blower is it an under bonnet set up or 6.71 or bigger the law is that nothing is to be higher then the bonnet line, also an engineer will tell you that as well.always pays to do all this first to know where you stand.
Regards Tony.

whatver size they are they seem to fit under easy and it still has a good ride heightThe Zodiac wrote:5. Fairly sure Rhino had 275 width tyres on Icepik.
Ok, so it's the same as VG-VS utesThe Zodiac wrote:6. Any pics? The Zodiac wrote:7. Tub350 had 295's under his van.
Probably be more prone to cut the floor out inside to make a spaceThe Zodiac wrote:8.
