went and looked at a van tonight with the following number.
Model- HZ8WM70
TRIM- 1189-63C
PAINT- 558-10981
ENGINE- L32, TRANS M20, REAR END GV4.
BUILT- 05-79
GVM- 2200
SEATING- 2
SMALL PLATE READS- 8M70RJL44823XXXX

What do you think, only rust in drivers cowl, everything else is spot on, statesman front, gts guards, full roof lining,console hold down tags minus motor and box with a set of weld wheels on, have made an offer and he excepted, what do you think its worth, cheers Andrew.

$5 less than you paid for it

This is what the original color that Rob and I worked out and with ten years of dust on it, might be the factory paint as has the correct color stickers on it, thanks buddy for your help

Ok guys can you help me with this van, some people are telling me its not a Sandman but all signs show it is, so please give your opinion.
Van has matching numbers with correct date motor, heres some photos.










Car has two dashboards in car which is confusing but here are the two glove box plates.

Hey Andrew, I'm no expert but going off the numbers, full length hoodlining and door light switchs, 2 seater, Belmont etc. I'd say that it's a geniune Sandman, I'd quite happily buy it as a Sandman and doubt anyone would question it.

I've looked at ya numbers also double checked them on monaroparts.com and in my very professional opnion
i reckon if the placard does'nt say Vy or Vz UTE it's gotta be a sandman.....

Just ask yourself these quick few questions.......

1) can you climb through from the back to front of van?
2) does it have a solid metal roof? (not fibreglass/ sicaflexed on)
3) Who listens to the doubters anyways - they just jealous.
you should'nt even waste brain power giving a rats kahuuna what anybody says!!!
That's left for other sites that run green graphic fonts & spiders as interior decorations!!!!

IT'S A SANDMAN.
I'll bet my lefty on it, and I'm not a betting man!

Unless it's important to you that it's a genuine Belmont with the Factory or Dealer Sandman Sticker Kit and Options, as long as it's in good nick and the price is reasonable, WHO CARES?

Your in the same boat as me!!!! I own vans, Im an enthusiast........I guess that makes me a van enthusiast but definately not a Vanner.

Back with a real car now, heres a few shots of the trailer, hope the rust isnt bad after sand blasting, here we go again.





Came with two statesman fronts, original 253 in pieces, 4 speed aussie, original cosole, Dash and a trailer load of parts, geuss I better finish the shed extension and get into it......

looks like the start of a good project, hopefully the sandblasting is kind to you, i wish i had done mine first
