You can never have a "too big" alternator.
If it fits, then yes!!!

For Sure!!! My Prem had a 35A and I swapped it for a 70A. Especially if your running extra goodies!

Re: Bigger alternators
running a bigger alternator is an absolute must. If you run a load of power draining devices - you will notice the difference. I ran a huge one on mine - it was at least 70A. may have been a bit higher - it was a special wind the auto elec did for me as I had lots of equipment that needed lotsa power

Re: Bigger alternators
I fitted a 100Amp one to the Wagon 30 odd years ago to run the Aircraft landing lights and the Stereo.
I had the cooling fan on it Chromed. If I rev it too hard the Blades start to straighten out.
Hope that you don't have that problem.

Arnt air craft landing lights HID and use less power thererfor reducing aroeplane weight by smaller baterries and alternators.

Re: Bigger alternators
i have 8 power sockets on my hilux plus a big stero FOR A SINGLE CAB and 2 anderson plugs in the tray for running fridges and 4 masive halogen spotlights two up front and two as reversing lights and as well as fitting a big alt having a good bat that cant take the charge is a must
i run an optima in my hilux and when i rewire bluEJay ill fit one to that as well and im considering running a dual battery set up in the van also running big enough guage wire to every thing help with voltage drop with brighter lights better running equipment
in the bluEJay for example i have over a 1.5V drop from the battery to the voltage guage that is wired in to the fuse panel but i dont have any from the battery to the starter solinoid [that is where my loom begins] because im rumming 5 strand copper wire that is used in power transformers

No HID 30 years ago.
All Element. A heavy duty Relay and Wiring, Fused direct from the Battery for each light.
