80's Charger Pro streeter.
Hi guys, have been here for some time, this is a great site totally love it. Well done to all who have made MV what it is today.
If you guys are interested, I thought I might post a few pics of my retro Charger 80's build.
It is still a work in progress, but I thought maybe a few people may relate to what I am doing on here. It isn't too far removed from the Van era. The Vans got me into modified cars. Anyway.
This is my previous Charger first.
This is the current car.
More soon.

This car on the cover of Street Machine magazine was a big influence.

Re: 80's Charger Pro streeter.
Hey mate, that was at a car show in Brisbane around 92. The girls were wandering around with a professional photographer, taking pics of cars. I didn't have many pics of my car, so I bought some off him.
Here are a few pics of the teardown/ blasting and rust repairs, there are a lot of rust repairs.
This was the 340 that was in the car, it was sold as my car is an E57 360 car, so I have bought a 360 block for it.

A few pics of the blasting, check out the splice in the drivers side rear quarter.
The bog surrounding the sunroof, a new roof is being fitted at present, as well as the rear quarter.

Looks like you doing a top job.

Re: 80's Charger Pro streeter.
Ok before i get into some of the rust repair pics, I thought I might show you all, some of the period stuff I have collected for the cars rebuild.
I have owned the Centreline Autodrags for over 20 years, but thought I might like to change it up a bit occasionally, so I began a search for another set of wheels. Simo spotted these on Ebay, so he bid, I bought and I will swap 2 of these for 2 15x7's that he has. They are off a 70's showcar, never saw the road, all 15x8.5 Western Jellybeans. There are 5 rims total.
Cheers Pete.

Satin finish Centreline Autodrags are my all time favourite wheel. Jelly Beans my least favourite of the traditional mag styles.
Each to their own!

Hey Smooth, I wasn't a fan of Jellie's years ago, but I kinda fell in love with them a few years back. And my car was optioned with the W35 code 5 slots, so it's a bit of a custom thing, and a bit of a nod to the way the car was.
The 360 block I picked up, 75 date coded too to match the car.
Picked up some Charger gills, to get rid of the big fibreglass panels. Chargers need gills, like the monaros need the flutes in the guards.
And I bought this as well.
Cheers Pete.

Re: 80's Charger Pro streeter.
Thanks fellas, here is a couple of pics of a similar car to mine. Belongs to a fellow forum member on hemi6pack, it is an XL 245 auto version of my car. This is the original colour I am repainting my car to, it is called Pampas/Acid green, bit of a more dull version of Holden Barbados green, kinda. Very 70's and i love it, very different also, which I like.
Cheers Pete.

Re: 80's Charger Pro streeter.
Picked up these Recaros recently, I wanted the ones with the mesh headrests. These are the perfect style, but the inserts look more 90's to me, its a shame cause they are in perfect nick. I will get them retrimmed to a more 80's friendly material down the track.
Trampies.

Re: 80's Charger Pro streeter.
Thanks fellas, I did a sort mock up of the blower, manifold, M/T valve covers and Velocity stacks. Very 80's. The spacers under the carbies, and the blower restraints won't be used.
Cheers Pete.
