Privacy Panels question Empty Privacy Panels question

Post  agro Thu 19 Sep 2013, 10:16 pm

Just wondering what would be the best stuff to get to put privacy panels on my doors?
What type of metal would be best?
Should i get them welded on or would a fiberglass panel be just as good?
Also want to get door handles and locks removed as well.

Privacy panels
I would do in fibreglass if I wanted to remove them at a later date,
In steel to be permanent .
Dean is right you can't remove door handles due to safety ,door locks you can.

What i don't understand is the reason why you CAN'T remove door handles and locks???
Lets say your in an accident and the doors are locked from the inside...........The handle doesn't work on the outside, so why have the handles if they won't open the door???????????????????????

Yep it's stupid that way ,actually you can remove door handles ,
My son has done 2-3 minitrucks ,they have to be engineered and
you buttons on the outside to replace the handles .so when you push the button
the door opens ,don't know if they can be electric though.

Handles and locks can go no problem but you must have a mechanical release on the exterior.
You just have to be creative!

You can also have these electrically operated but the mechanical system must override everything.

You need a mechanical button
on the out side.

Yes, that should be fine. Check with an engineer to be sure though.

That is a good point. If you can draw correlation with something already approved on the market then your chances of success improve massively. Find a car that does, tell/show the engineer and see if he is willing to sign off on it. They need to be able to relate the modification to the correct ADR.
