HQ Purr-Pull ute
Moved on to a new ute again.
HQ 308, 4 speed.
This is the way I picked her up.
have done bits and pieces to is since bring it home.
Re did a lot of the electrical system
new brake master cylinder.
rear wheel cylinders
paint stripped and repainted the head light surrounds with black insert
put black standard holden rims with chrome wheel nuts
pulled all of the stainless window trim off and polished them to within and inch of it life on the bench grinder fitted with a polishing mop.
tried buffing some of the paint, why to thin, straight back to under coat on all the high spots.
Trying to think of a number plate for this ute if anyone has ideas?

It looked good when it had VIB88R number plates on it! Great old ute Jon boy, tough and practical. She's had a few different engines in it since we've owned it to...stock 253, 383 Chev, worked 253,mild 308.......whats next? 454 maybe?
How about PRP00L?
HQY00T?
IC00LQ?
DET00R? (Spells rooted in rear few mirror!) I could go on for days!

Re: HQ Purr-Pull ute
Loaded the old ute up the other day to head to the tip.
Had around 500 kg of crap to dump.
On the way home started to hear a squeaking noise coming from the rear, put my foot on the brake noise goes away.
Noise has than been coming and going for a couple of days...
Had a spare minute today and jacked the old ute up. Grabbed the drivers side wheel and she moved in and out 9mm
popped the axle out... ah theres the problem
spent all arvo removing the diff, cleaning up, painting and putting in a different diff I had started doing about a year ago for the other ute I have.
should be back on the road tomorrow.

Re: HQ Purr-Pull ute
Your telling me!!
Just finished putting the new diff in. Much Much nicer to drive!
From 2.78 open wheeler to a 3.08 slippery.
New diff seems to do everything its ment to. lights both wheels up straight away, nice and tight, no back lash.
Still sits at good revs at 100km.
Happy days

Re: HQ Purr-Pull ute
Little update on the interior
From this
To this at the moment.
Painted the door trims and center console black. Fitted new black carpet and new underlay up in September. Last week went and purchased a new GTS wheel and repo HQ kick panels.
a lot nicer feel to drive with the bigger wheel back on.

Re: HQ Purr-Pull ute
It serves it purpose in my eyes....
Not the straightest, shiniest or fastest HQ ute around. Though it does its job as being a work ute pretty well.
Have collected enough panels needed to give it a quick coat of paint when it starts to warm up again.
Picked up a HQ bonnet off Ebay the other day for the HUGE price of $5.50 and the condition of it is far better the the bonnets the wreckers are trying to sell for $150...
Cutting the roof off my black ute shell to fill the sun roof in.
Also got a good tail gate, new set a tarp clips and tarp.
Got a couple of options with wheels depending on how I am feeling when she is all painted up.
Cheers for now
