Rusty's HJ 1 Tonner Project.

This is my Tonner not long after I bought it and started stripping it down.





It belonged to a Roof Tiler.  Had Sand in all sorts of strange places.

Once I stripped it down I ripped out the 253 and 4 Speed.

Stripping it back for grinding, sand blasting and 2-Pak.

In the Shed, awaiting attack.

202ci c/w 350 Holley, Cain Manifold and Extractors
T-Bar, 3 Speed, Traumatic
High Back Bucket Seats
Extra Gauges Cluster
Stereo
Mag Wheels 13" on front 14" on rear.  Changed Kidneys to Hotwire 8" wide on back, 7" on Front.
Centre Mount Aerial
XE Front Bumper
Concealed Fuel Filler with Flap (Factory)
Lovell Lowered Front Springs
Blacked out Door Window Frames
Functional XA GT Bonnet Scoop
Cyan Blue Finish on inside and Headlight Surrounds
Grey Primer finish on the exterior.
Keyless Boot Entry - Screwdriver required.
PURFECT SLEEPER CREEPER!

Ps. Can be driven at 110km/hr until you run out of Fuel quite comfortably.

i'm down to 92-93 k.p.h.

Cleaned up all the welds and Primed them for good measure until I get around to Sandblasting the Chassis.

Decided I wanted the Spare Wheel in the middle and Exhaust Pipes running up each side, so I made a new Piece and welded it in after cutting out the original one and cleaning up.











Used an old Engine Stand I had and made something to use at the Front.  Viola!  A Rotisserie.

Also decided I want to be able to drive long distances and be able to pull up at the Bowser and not worry about which side to Fill from, so I've fitted Brackets for a Fuel Tank on the Left-hand Side. There's already a Factory Hole on the Chassis Plate, perfect for a second Filler Neck to go through.

Fuel Tanks were sent off to have crossover and balancing fittings added.

If you look closely at this pic, you can see the second set of Mounting Brackets.

Decided to fold up and fit a new rear Bar without all the Superfluous Holes and Notches.

Plan is to fit LTD Taillights anyway.

Looks like you have a project on your hands Rusty.
Lots of fun planning and doing. One day you might put this effort into a Van

Sadly, one of the problems (apart from the Ball & Chain ) in getting a Project Van is that I haven't found anything half decent where I don't have to take out a 2nd Mortgage and sell my Organs to put down a Deposit.

Throw a Mattress on the back of a Tonner and you can make Love under the Stars.

Kept the Front simple: HJ-Z Statesman.

Would Love to build a TransAm Tonner one day, with either a T-Roof or Gullwing Doors c/w T/A Interior and Massive Wheels on the Back. One day.

I do have my Lotto Ticket in though. Fingers Crossed!

Bought a Long 308 for it and sent it off to the Engine reconditioners. Block was cracked, so bought a short.

Fully reconditioned, new rings, new bearing, new valves & seat Grind, Lumpy Bump Stick, Hi-Volume Oil Pump.

Painted it in 2-Pak Mint Julip and Sherwood Green (metallic) before I put all my Goodies on it.







Machined the Flywheel and fitted a new Clutch and Pressure Plate for the 4 Speed.

Bought a new Edelbrock Torker Square Bore Manifold for it and a 650 Double Pumper Holley.

Bought a new set of Pacemaker Headers for it and sent them off to be Aluminium Sprayed.

Painted the Gearbox and Bellhousing to match the 308.

All happening by the sounds of that Rusty.
