How to Name Your Van
Hi Everyone!
Total newbie here and I am not sure if this has been posted before or not..
But my big question about vans is:
"How did you come across the name and theme of your Vans?"
-do they all have names?
-was it 'meant' to be?
-did it pop up in a dream?
-or something that has been with you for years?
Been thinking a lot about my recent purchase and I am getting stuck making final decisions.
Would love to hear your stories!

Re: How to Name Your Van
My VY got named because of the Ute to Van conversion along with the general sniggering of what goes on within a panel van.
It was all "Innuendo" about what goes on in there! I thought that's an appropriate name. My HT Van "Rumours" was to do with the old Vanning secrecy about what has been done since it went away into the shed for a build. People would hear things and speculate. In the end it's all just "Rumours and Innuendo"

Re: How to Name Your Van
I had more of a reply to Graham but for some reason it isn't showing or if it was because I tried to reply on my mobile. No idea how this all works
I was only part of the sinbin forum for a little bit and think I mainly sat back and watched haha! But I have recently purchased a HQ Van and have 3 ideas paint wise and name/theme, I near think of something new each day. As for the interior in the back...that's a whole new chapter of where to begin and what to do!!
I really like the koolmint Graham and like the "Rumours and Innuendo" Smooth!!
Have to go learn myself how to attach pics

Before you commit to a name and theme be sure to ask around if the name has been used before.
Nothing worse than being accused of stealing an idea.
I know a lot of names come from songs and album covers.

Re: How to Name Your Van
And yes..that is the other thing. I noticed 1 van has a similar inside to what I'm thinking (just different colours), another also has its back done out in an idea for my tailgate. And I think I may have been aiming a bit along these ideas posting this to see what was out there within Majestic's as I am not too familiar with them all.

Re: How to Name Your Van
I absolutely love the idea of cars with names, particularly in my early drag racing days(nostalgia) when almost every car had a name( mine also) plastered on its side, then of course shortly after , panel vans adopted names, to add to the atmosphere of the era. Fast forward to now , and its just as iconic to see Vans and Nostalgia Drag Cars with very cool names! So go for it and choose carefully , as the name you choose will stay with you for your lifetime in some form or another! And I am talking from experience. Quite soon I will be taking possession of a van , and I have already chosen a name for it.

Welcome to the forum Peter
Glad to see the vanning bug has bitten you....
As far as naming goes don't rush it
It took me 25yrs to name mine and only came up with by chance..
Playing the Angry bird one day and thought that's a bit like my van ,tap it & takes off
& that also makes up part of the theme for it aswell..

Re: How to Name Your Van
I have a few names for my van but they’re not in the register. I use them when I’m kicking the tyres, slamming the bonnet, or working next to a hot exhaust manifold.
While soldering wires under the dash, that’s another time.
A couple of years ago the petrol pump gave up near Mullengandra (on the way to Bathurst Van Nats), the names got a good work out then too……

Re: How To Name Your Van
Hey Stacia/Alspac, welcome good to have you on board. Hope you enjoy your van as much as we do. Including the building of 'her'. Hey Pete it would be good if you put up some pics of that awesome coupe you guys have.
Good one Rohan....... There has been many a day before our vans are complete where most of us share the same name for them before they are reborn....
Good one Neil...... Yep Fords are definitely unique. Barn doors! Really!
Yep Smooth...French being the operative word!
There are many more enjoyable words to use when our vans are on the road.
Van On Joe and Angelique.

Re: How to Name Your Van
No point rushing the name, Rob choose Deeper Meanings for his WB "Sandman" which was a perfect name considering its history with him. Give it time and Im sure a fitting name will become obvious to you when you least expect it. You share the same blood so vanning is definitely in you, enjoy it and have no doubt that he is watching over you saying "gotta have the Wb taillights" lol.
talk to you soon
