Rob Burns Memorial Weekend, Tumut 28-30th April 2017
On the weekend members and close friends of Rob made the pilgrimage to Tumut to honor the memory of our late President and great friend Rob Burns.
Trish, myself and the kids left on Friday morning to meet up with Andrew, Kerri, Joe and Angelique to make the journey to Tumut. After taking both the vans to Port Fairy only a couple of weeks ago, this time round the family and I traveled together in the family car (BF XT Falcon) while Andrew and Kerri drove the VE SS ute, and Joe and Angelique in the '68 F-Truck.
We arrived in Tumut at around 3.30pm to find everyone starting to gather at our predetermined meeting place at the old Railway Station. Teesh came down to greet us, driving down in Rob's WB along with the boys.
Once everyone had arrived and after a bit of a chinwag, we made our way up to the cemetery to pay our respects. Rob's headstone had only just been installed the day before, and they had done a very impressive job of it. It was an emotional occasion as each took their turn to spend some time with Rob and reflect on their own memories of the great man.

Re: Rob Burns Memorial Weekend, Tumut 28-30th April 2017
In the evening we all went about grabbing something to eat and headed down to the rotunda at the Caravan Park by the river that the majority of us were staying at, to get together and chat and catch up, and share stories from the recent Van Nationals, as well as memories of Rob. Many laughs were had as we stood next the BBQ's to try and keep warm! It was a chilly old night in Tumut that night!
In the morning the vans were invited to join the local car club in the parade for the local 'Festival of the Falling Leaf'. We were made to feel very welcome and the vans very well received by the locals as they joined the procession through the town. It was Rob's son Josh's Birthday, and the radio announcers who were commentating on the parade wished him a Happy Birthday as he passed them in his Dad's Torana driven by Teesh.

After the parade we all headed to Brady Mary's Park at the base of the Blowering Dam Wall for a bit of a cruise and a BBQ Lunch. We kicked the footy around with the kids and had an enjoyable afternoon sitting around chatting and relaxing.

After the BBQ we headed up the wall for a couple of photos
Saturday night saw us all head to the Woolpack Hotel for some dinner where we had a great feed and spent another great night talking and joking around. The drinks and laughs went late into the night. In the morning we all packed up and spent some time saying our goodbyes before hitting the road and heading home. It was a great weekend spent with great people, honoring the memory of a great friend. Thanks to all that attended.
Cheers, Karl.

Hey Graham thanks, yep lovin' the truck.
She ran like a clock all weekend.
Yeah.... the left hand drive....
Funny story..... as we joined the parade on Saturday Angelique was making a phone call from the passenger seat (the right hand side). Three young coppers on the footpath spotted us driving by.
Constable Gump in the middle gestured at her furiously to get off her phone while driving...LOL, not that bright!
Truck On Joe.
