Electric Fuel Pump
Hello MJ's,
I am looking at installing an electric fuel pump in my panel van but unsure of where, how and what type. Motor is a warm 308 with a holley 4 barrel carby. Any comments /suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Andrew

Re: Electric Fuel Pump
Hi Andrew,
I just recently went through this with my HQ.
My high flow mechanical pump was leaking and it was starting to get worse. I tried to look at getting an overhaul kit for it, but they are hard to source, and pretty pricey to boot.
At the suggestion of a couple of members I went with installing a Carter electric pump, along with a Peel safety switch to power it. The Safety switch operates by sensing a pulse from the ignition coil, so that it only powers the pump when the car is running. It also powers up for 2.5 seconds to prime the pump when the the ignition is first turned on.
I have mounted the pump on the chassis above the tail shaft, and ran fuel hose from the tank outlet to the pump and back into the fuel hard line to the engine bay. It works really well and I am very happy with it.
Cheers, Karl.

Re: Electric Fuel Pump
Do you recommend the 72 gph for a warm 308?

Re: Electric Fuel Pump
I'm not an expert by any means in this regards. The one on my Van appears to be the 72gph Pump, which has a 5.3 Litre Engine.
Karl looks to have the same one. Hopefully he will see this post and comment.
