I used to work with a guy on the Gold Coast (Gary something) and he reckons he owned that Nova? He was right into the car scene in Vic a long time ago. He knew the Dalton family (Rotor heads) ??
Re: Old car show pics (summernats, easternats etc)
A coincidence this turned up, It seems a fair bit of dough for what your getting.

Re: Old car show pics (summernats, easternats etc)
Just found a feature on it in the Jan/Feb 1991 issue of Street and Strip mag, it's owner/builders name at that point was Geoff Thuring if that helps????

Re: Old car show pics (summernats, easternats etc)
Gary would of owned it before that. Thats when I knew him. Maybe he owned it and sold it in standard form. I remember Garry saying he never tubbed it? Whatever. It is a cool car.
Re: Old car show pics (summernats, easternats etc)
Wonder how much your mate sold it for Coasty??? I think 18k is a bit steep for it as it is now. Be cooler if they had've left the paint on it.

Re: Old car show pics (summernats, easternats etc)
Rob told me today the Torrie ended up in Western Sydney somewhere and he still see's it around the show scene. He said it's still looking good. He currently has a few Toranas with V8s and his LH now has a 388 blown and NOS !! Called it Mr Bad.
Well hello everyone....
Hi everyone,
My mate Coasty from OZBMX told me about this forum and here I am.
I'm the one that built MR GAS back in the 80's and just a couple of days ago dug up some December 88 Street Machine mags with the MR GAS feature, that I'd wrapped up and kept.
It's still kicking around out St Marys way and still owned by the guy I sold it to.
I was a vanner from P-plates (still am at heart) and am building a HJ Sandman ute (slowly) at the moment.
I have a Blown LH SLR called MR BAD that I built from an ebay farm purchase and have a couple of other tough LH/LX Toranas, as well as a totally original VG Valiant Safari wagon that I got from my Father in Law, and my Mum still has an LC Torana that she's had from new (and still looks new).
This is my first post so I'm going to have a look around the forum and see what you guys have got.
I'm looking forward to this......

Great to have you on here Rob, always loved that MR GAS Torana, (idolised it actually from the first time I seen it!) I've got a few copies of the December issue of Street Machine, had Blo bak on the cover. Even got a drawing here a chick I went to school with did of it for me! I'll have to dig it out.
I'll start a thread on the Torana if you want to add up some more pics of it.
Cheers Rob

Re: Old car show pics (summernats, easternats etc)
It's on a farm on Mamre road (I think that's the name). The guy that bought it's Dad has a load of FJ's in sheds and garages all over the property. I haven't seen it, but my good mate OCTANE tells me he sees it from time to time and it still looks the same as when I sold it.
I'm looking for the injection that was on it. When I sold it I put a tunnel ram on it because it wasn't real user friendly if you didn't know what you were doing, and I sold the injection setup to a guy in Beverly Hills.
I've got a Torana that would just love that injection now, and living in the sticks it wouldn't foul plugs all the time like it did in city traffic. And we have very understanding cops too. I drive my blown Torana a lot and have no problems at all, even with wheelie bars and chute on it.
