Chrysler panel van
Hi a newbie here... i dont have a van yet!!... (hopefully) but i am looking at buying a 1977 CL 318 auto complete panel van 99% rust free unmolested straight body just the paint has started to fade off with light surface rust, thats been hidding in some dudes shed for the last 10years unloved. i have seen it and started the motor and drove it up down his drive all seems ok atmo?...so the question is the asking price of $10,000 does this seem a resonable price? as the van will need some cosmetic touches / minor mech work as well are these van as rare as some have suggested ...just looking for some info on these old jiggers from one of the van gurus on this forum:D so any input would be good
Thanx

Re: Chrysler panel van
g day mate welcome
sounds like a good car but just factor in things like
brakes / lines
fuel tank / lines
clutch if its manual or the box if its auto
wheel bearings
electrics make sure that every knob works
also rego
thats the shot list id try and talk that into the 10k price tag see you can knock it down to 8k
but everything above is here say i haven't seen the car maybe some pictures might help
we all love pictures on majestic vanners
also good to see someone interested in some of more different vans

A check of the compliance plate option codes might help give you a better idea of value and how original it really is. A80 option code means it's a Drifter (don't think you'll be that lucky, but you've always gotta be looking).
A full list of codes is on the chargerclubofwa.asn.au website. There's a lot of handy info there including an engine number decoder as well.
And remember, it's only money......

Re: Chrysler panel van
They made less than 2000 Chrysler vans so a complete one that has all the features you mentioned would be worth grabbing any day.

Chrysler Panelvan
Hey, thanx guys for the input its not a Drifter van!! it was a 265ci six but it is now registerd for a v8 i have seen the rego papers...but the dude is firm on the asking price and wont budge!! saying take it or leave it etc. even after pointing out a few things that would need imeadiate attention. good thing he is not in any hurry to sell it and it is not advertised any where as well. i heard about it through chinese whispers and went on a mission to see if it was real..i guess i have to work on the minister of war and finance for the extra funding as she will not be happy (you bought what for how much!! are you f@*&#^%g crazy ) LOL see how i go anyway!!
Cheers

The key to buying stuff and dealing with the wife is simple:
It's easier to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission..........

Re: Chrysler panel van
Yep,
I bought my SL/R Torana without asking the Handbrake.
It was on ebay and I threw a bid on it and no one else did, so......
"Honey, we've got to take a drive to Queenbeyan!"
"Why?"
"Oh..... I just bought a Torana on ebay and it's sitting outside on a farm, so we need to go NOW!"
"You bought ANOTHER Torana?.... No!"
" I've already bought it so stop whinging and let's got get it"
Now she loves it....

Re: Chrysler panel van
I just keep building more sheds, but the sheds cost more than the cars!
I AM running out of land to build on, so something drastic may happen (like selling something).

Re: Chrysler panel van
No, No! It's NOT funny! It's some sort of addiction.
I need a shed, so I build one that's way too big. Then I somehow fill it up and then I find a car I can't live without, but I need to keep it inside or it will rust away in no time.
So I build another shed, one that's way too big........

Re: Chrysler panel van
I do bicycle repairs and servicing from home and I've gotten so busy that I've needed to set up a dedicated shop area which was in my big shed, but it was becoming a security risk with tourists and others seeing what I have, so I've built a shop under my house and am currently fitting it out.
Problem is, the area that is now the shop was full of (good) junk, so now that stuff is in my new shed where the cars were supposed to be going.
So I need another shed.......
