Old car show pics (summernats, easternats etc)

Seems alot of you blokes have some cool old pics from old car shows.
Could we get some uploaded. Im interested in seeing pics of anything tuff. not just vans and even whack some holdens in there haha

Here is a few i just scanned in, from summernats. Around 88-90, I went those three years and dont know what years the pics are from-All taken on 35mm fillum.

if i had a scanner and about a week spare i could put up hundreds (more probably)

want to do it one day but need a quicker way to do it

while anyones looking through old pics please let me know if you find a tunnel rammed HZ GTS in red with a bug catcher at the first nats

I'll scan some of mine, got boxes full of them! We use to go and end up taking a couple of hundred pics and spent the next 6 months getting them developed. The Summernats from the late 80's, early 90's where my favourites after that it started to turn to sh1t I think.

I went in 89? and had the best time parked on Northbourne ave at night time watching the
cars go up and down all night.And the girls.......Ahh the mammories...oh I meant memories.

damn im loving these old pics. i was hardly a thought in my parents mind when most of these were taken haha.

Come on slackos. Get them pics scanned and put up here haha. Oh and some ford pics would be lovely

so cool cannot wait to see more! them were the days! would have been awesome to be young then!

Interestingly (or not) the young bloke in the last pic with the blown mustang is me. And nobody i was with reckon they took the pic with my camera and i didnt remember anyone taking my camera.

you guys should have been there for the first 6 (88 - 93)

there was non stop cruising 24/7 up and down northbourne
at the first one i had a tunnel rammed HZ GTS with a full cage, drop tank and bug catcher
i repainted it just before and we didnt refit the inner guards and the day we got there i pulled the bonnet off and only put it back on 4 days later to go home - didnt get hassled once

the supercruise down northbourne was the nuts - i wasted a new set of tyres at the first one going from natex to civic

there were people 10 deep on the main strip and you had to stop every 20 feet to recover from the photo flashes
there must be 1000 pics of my old car hidden in photo albums in canberra

December 88, or Summernats 89 was my first one, went over on a bus, stayed at a mates parents place in Queanbeyan and his dad dropped us off on Northborne Ave of a night time around 8.30pm. He'd come back at 11.30pm when he finished work and pick us up, endless cars cruising by, we were only 14 and it was a huge eye openner.
Missed the next one and was back in '91 and most of them since but the early ones were the best, less commercialised, less dickheads, and there seemed to be a heap less hassles, fights and everyone there seemed to be car people not ar5eholes who just go to get drunk and hassle women.
Watching cars like Beauchamps VL and Cannon's Torana cruise Northborne was something I'll never forget, the site and sound was sweet as!

At the 89/90 Summernats I remember an early Cortina (the ones with the round tailights).I think
it was cream or beige,standard body,stock interior with vinyl bench seats cheese cutter stock
rims with hub caps.It looked like grandad's restored car but if you looked inside there was a B&M
shifter and under the bonnet was a big block.Any one remember this one?

we have been to all of them and have noticed the difference between the old and the new especially in the pricing.northbourne ave cruising days and nights were excellent, we have stayed at the same lodge on northbourne ave for the last 20 years and it has a really good balcony for watching the cruising except the trees have grown up.thanx wizard

Ahhhh, Howard Astil's XA and Gary Myers Mustang, does anyone remember the mad turks HR ute that won the burnouts a couple of times, might have to dig out some photo's

if it's the one im thinking of it was white with red trim and it was a cortina shifte with a 460
the main thing was the pea shooter exhaust that hid the huge dump pipe
im pretty sure i have a pic of it - ill check

he still has that ute every yr at the nats. hes an entertainer thats for sure. love watching his burnouts.

i tqalked to this guy about 5 years back and he said he was doing another build
not to my taste but some good work carried out

Was featured in Street Machine years ago with an under bonnet blown Chev. His wife worked at the local cop shop or something, was nice not sure about some of it now though.

yeh im not real sure about the interior or the blower cover. The shots of what it used to look like look crazy though.

This rod was as angry as anything, as he was backing up it had a massive loping idle and would turn the tyres in the dirt as it lumped. I guess the blower overdriven.
