Re: Rust repair
I am a beginner rust repairer Kev, and not much better at forums! Let me get the location right; this is below the right bottom corner of the windscreen? (if not, I am a goose already).
Assuming that I have the location correct, I reckon that your next step is to remove the screen, and drill out the spotwelds to remove the top panel of the plenum. You can then assess the damage in the underlying panel and decide to repair it , or remove more.
While this is going on, I would be keenly looking for a clunker that might donate some better metal.
Bear in mind that I am totally devoid of any qualification to give this advice, and eagerly await a contribution from someone with a track record of success here; the truth is, I too seek advice as I slowly work through rust repair in my HG van.
Have you done any work on this since posting the photo?

I've been working on the bottom of the front guards getting rid of the rust ,making new panels and welding them in ,quite a process ,I had to make a gig to recreate some parts in the panels as you can see from the following photo's !!
