2015 Street Machine Nationals, Wagga Wagga - August 15 & 16 (Not the Summer Nats).
Email Receivedf from Paul Beck:
Hi Guys & Girls,
“BY ENTHUSIASTS, FOR ENTHUSIASTS!” That just about sums up what the Street Machine Nationals are all about. Like you, I want a family friendly event that is alcohol free and focuses on having fun with cars.
Before Chic Henry left the ASMF and kick started the Summernats, the Street Machine Nationals was THE big event for Post ’48 vehicles. People like the late Steve Hill worked his butt off trying to keep the original Nats alive which saw the event travel to many places over the years. When I decided to try to re-invent the Street Machine Nats, we first did so at Rosehill Racecourse and then Sydney Dragway. This year, we bring the event back ‘home’ to Wagga Wagga.
Ideally situated half way between Sydney and Melbourne, Wagga Wagga is Australia’s largest inland city with an abundance of accommodation venues as well as tourist places to visit also. I always enjoyed my time when the Street Machine Nationals were held in Wagga, so I decided to head back to the historical Showgrounds in 2015 to bring the event back to the Calender.
This time around, there’s plenty to do inside the grounds during the event including not one, but two indoor shows - The Show Car Masters and the Alfa Fibreglass Hall of Horsepower. You’ll also be able to take in the show and shine, Clint Rowley Memorial Dyno Compeition, Grass driving events, Sound-Off, Swap Meet, Custom Car Corral (For Sale Section), Traders galore, kids rides and the Shannon’s Car Club Challenge where clubs battle it out to be named Car Club of the Year!
This event needs to become an annual event, but it will only happen with your support! If you’re into cars and like to take your family along with you, then the Street Machine Nationals is the event for you. I have attached an event flyer as well as entry form for you and your club members to have a look at. Please note: The entry price of $165 includes up to 2 Adults and 2 Children at no extra cost!
If you have any enquiries at all, please don’t hesitate to call, email or text me anytime.
Hope to see you and your club members in Wagga for the original Street Machine Nationals, August 15th and 16th, 2015 at Wagga Wagga Showgrounds.

I think i went to the last one there back in the late 80's, it wasn't very family friendly then.
Have to agree with Neils opinion.
In saying that though Wagga is a beautiful place to visit and i am thinking of taking the family to this one.
Cheers Mark

Far out, I was at Canberra in '86 too.
Myself and 2 mates from Albury (all aged nineteen at the time) let loose in the big smoke, and yes our behaviour was, ahem, less than exemplary.
Anyway, that was a life time ago now. Being just up the road, I'd probably take the kids too.
Pity the pricing isn't similar to the old days.......

What like the $71 a fortnight you got on the dole?blur1 wrote:then again i like everything from older times.............
Some older things are pretty cool, others are being viewed through foggy memories or rose tinted glasses.
I have every issue of Street Machine from inception 'till the end of 1997 when I quit the habit. In retrospect I should have given it up much earlier.
The '90's was not a good time for cars in general.

Couldn't agree more James
The check book builds put the good built cars in the trading post as spares.
Then there was the overboard advertising ,only buy it now for vanning features...
