Re: Dazed & Confused HJ ute
A quick update on the ute. Finally after a long wait, Dazed goes to the auto electrician next weekend for an electrical tidy up. I've tidied up the engine a little more with Gilmer pulleys and belt, I've fitted hoses but im going to change them out for black braided hoses, fitted new brake lines and I've made sure that the shifter, centre console and seats all fit and look good. After the auto electrician's done, I just have to fit the dynamat and carpet, the rear tray and it's done. The first drive is going to be great!!

Thanks Rusty, yes Dazed cleaned up pretty well seeing as though it was originally painted and built around 25 years ago. Yes the centre console stripe looks fantastic. I'm very happy with the interior. I also have the original glove box lid now thanks to Stuart Marshall's very kind gesture

Re: Dazed & Confused HJ ute
Yes it was a great looking spoiler for the WB front. I think from memory Wayne used 2 spoilers to make it. Wayne certainly had a great eye for detail and an excellent eye for custom design

I might get the spoiler made one day, but Dazed sits very low which would make it a nightmare to driven and it's going to be driven regularly

Re: Dazed & Confused HJ ute
I done a bit more tidy up work last weekend. I wasn't entirely happy with the inner guards so I pulled them back out and painted them gloss black on the underside and matt black on the top. Took me nearly 2 hrs to clean all the grime from the underside but it was well worth the effort. Dazed didn't end up going to the auto electricians this weekend but it's going there this Tuesday. I also done these before and afters, it's certainly come along way in 12mths.

If I never set myself the goal to go to Summernats this year I'd wouldn't have progressed as far as I have. Makes it easier when you have an extremely good base to start from. I'll always be doing something to make it better. Here are a couple more before and after.

First time out of the garage for 12mths, I think it still looks killa from every angle. The journey is nearly complete to get Dazed back on the road.

Re: Dazed & Confused HJ ute
Thanks Rusty. Dazed went on its first road trip today, not under its own power but it won't be long now. Wow this colour just pops for a paint job that's over 20 yrs old.

Re: Dazed & Confused HJ ute
Thanks BlueJay that's great feedback. Id like to go the full show route, but I just want it to be streetable, that's why I've tried to have a balanced mix. I wanted to maintain the history of Dazed, and have that old school look. There's still a lot to do such as minor paint touch ups here and there, the back tray which I'm doing similar to original and swapping all the hoses out to black braid, but I'm in no rush to get them done, as I want to get it back on the road and start cruising. I'm glad people like what I'm doing, I was just lucky to have a very good starting point

Re: Dazed & Confused HJ ute
When changing out the hoses to the braided be careful on
the cheaper hoses .
The quality is really "How you Going" when fitting them together and very sensitive to what fluids
are put through them .
I know your not doing it yet but just keep it mind for later .

Re: Dazed & Confused HJ ute
It’s been a big week for Dazed, it made readers rides in Street Machine and it’s purring like a kitten once more (I can’t upload the vid). I can’t thank my auto electrician (Smudge Auto Electrics) enough for bring it back to life. All the wiring has been hidden, it has a new retro radio and LED lights. Certainly not to long now before it’s back on the road.

Not from what I can see. All the lights seem to look fine with no bleeding between one another. Here are the brake lights in darker area. Head lights seem fine. I’m happy with it.
