Sydney -> Melbourne
Hi All,
I've found a gearbox and bits in Sydney which I'm considering buying, but I need to get the lot sent to Melbourne.
a) Is anyone planning a trip from Sydney to Melbourne, who would like some contribution to their fuel cost (long shot, I know);
or
b) Has anyone sent something similar recently, that can recommend a decent courier service.
I'll get some quotes from a local mob, but I'm interested in alternatives.
Cheers

I live halfway between both mate in Wagga Wagga and we use Ron Crouch Transport for all of our shipping to both Syd and Melb. Might be worth checking them out

Re: Sydney -> Melbourne
St Clair, out west not too far from Penrith (according to google maps).
I've not bought it yet - I'm working out whether it's feasible by the time I take freight into account.
Cheers

Re: Sydney -> Melbourne
What if we got someone on here to pick it up, drop it here next time they're down this way, I could drop it to Rusty etc etc. Might take awhile though.
Tony's in Penrith, Sean's in Sydney somewhere, I got mates in Campbelltown and a mate that lives 10 minutes from WSID.
Surely we can work something out.

Re: Sydney -> Melbourne
It's a good thought Rob, but it would be a pain in the neck for people involved - there's a gearbox, bellhousing, tail shaft, cross member and so on.
A bit awkward for a multi person transfer. I appreciate you thinking of it though!

Re: Sydney -> Melbourne
What ratio and type of diff's currently in your van Perry? Got me thinking.

Re: Sydney -> Melbourne
Not sure of the ratio Rob, whatever came standard, I would think. It's a Salisbury 10 bolt.
Why do you ask? Happen to have a supra/celica 5 speed sitting in your shed? I can't swap it for my diff - I kind of need it

Re: Sydney -> Melbourne
Got a Supra 5 speed, Chev 10 bolt in my van and I wouldn't mind changing it to another Supra and Salisbury.

Re: Sydney -> Melbourne
I just checked that out Perry. Seems good value. I'd really like a 3.55:1 LSD Salisbury to go back in The Zodiac. Thats what she had when I owned her the first time. My only other option might be to change the gearset in the Chev 10 bolt.
Or the other option is sell you my Supra 5 speed, tailshaft and Chev 10 bolt, get the Supra off Troy and it's tailshaft and find a 3.55 Salisbury.

How many revs does your van sit on at 100km/h Perry?

Yep, I did notice that - it did have a statesman front (WB) at some time in it's life, so perhaps it's been cut to suit the WB rad support - I bought it form Canberra and sold a lot of the parts off, planning on putting the chev, t350 and ford 9" into my car. Plans change, and I'm keeping the 253 for now and would like to stick a 5 speed in for those future runs to Albury (or Hampton Park, or Cranbourne South).
