PAINT.!!!

Today I spoke to a previous owner of my Corolla and showed him current photo's of it and he said OH it is black now !!! to which I replyed Yeh it looks like the guy we got it from painted it by the beach with a Roller or a Vacuum cleaner , He then burst out Laughing and said no I know why it's rough textured because when I had it, I painted it with HAMMERTONE I Stopped Laughing at that point and The Following Emoticons desccribe how I felt from then on...... So here goes Boy have I got my work cut out for me for a while, I must now regroup And go onward and forward and with a big smile on my face get it done,A good challenge I reckon... Lucky I know a painter who can sort this

it does make you wonder where people get their ideas from, our van was owned by a plumber who carefully filled all the rust holes with roof and gutter sealant before repainting it, looked good till i got it home

As an old school painter John it will be no problem for you mate.

Thanks Guy's I am still laughing albeit A NERVOUS LAUGH because I was shocked to learn after too many years away from the trade that apparently all the little fisheyes that cause the HAMMERTONE look are due to the presence of S S SSS Silicone And that is a painters Nightmare from hell It just means back to bare metal lots of preparation and 500ml of anti silicone drops to stir into the paint....The last one was a Joke

Leave it black and hammertoned textured, paint some planets, comets and the odd spaceship on it and run with the out of space type theme.

Thanks Rob, An outer space themed Rat Van Hmmm, food for thought .....I must say I was expecting you to be in tears over the situation which I portrayed. As in tears of laughter Coupled with despair as to Why The Hell would any one paint a Van in HAMMERTONE Lucky thing is there seems to be a really good little original Van hiding under all that man iduced crap and will be worth the effort in the long run Cheers John.

Good to hear you have a van John, although with a bit of work to bring it back. It will be well worth the effort though, you will end up with a very nice van of your own design.

Hey Tony, Did you take the keys off the Torrie guy and report him to the cops to warn them of imminent danger to society, Surely that would have been a reportable Federal offence....Hammertone on a Torrie Being a Spraypainter can be very stressful sometimes you know

LOL,for sure John to do that to a hatchy is criminal I have met some idiots over the time as a painter.I had this one guy asked if I could paint his EH black and if he grinds down some pearls could I mix the powder in the paint and lay it on,I told him how it would not work and then said he would find a painter that would I said good luck.Even when you try to explain things that work and don't work there are those that just do not get it.

I know we covered this before when you posted a pic,it comes down to bad preperation and high humidity bring it to the reunion and we can go right over it.

Yep I agree, Bring the Van so we can have a look and see as Tony said.... So we will be asking the Question, DIDYABRINGYAVANALONG I am an old School Painter from the Acrylic days And don't know much about 2pac, Having said that Tony does know The old and New..... However Preparation principles remain Throughout I will be happy to help where I can. Same as Tony I am sure...Looking forward to seeing you there With or without your Van....Hopefully with !!! the more the better I say.
