is he doing base coat / clear coat or solid or is it acrylic?

Is he going to block it back and buff it or is that up to you to do?

Remember the finish will only come out as good as the prep work.

I think 400 is reasonable so long as it's done properly. The paint is almost like a tattoo for your car, once you put it on it's there for a while, make sure it's done right.

thats cheap Smile well agood price Smile even tho ur doing the prep work, the actual painting is hard labour too. and it is quite a skill to get it right Smile he could charge a lot more and people would pay it. my friend gave me 300 to jsut put paint his front and rear bars and side skirts. i didnt want any but he gave me that much, he also boight the paint, and did the prep work tho i talked him thru it. he also got my other half and me lunch and he also helped with hte painting, and cleaning my spray gun as my left hand is very very weakt and uncooperative now and right doesnt work. (sprayed with left) all i did was put paint on. he was ready for refils in the pot as i cant hold a full pot of paint now, so he and my partner were workign as a team to take gun off me, unscrew, half fill, rescrew hand back to me, move compresser hahaha. was a good team Very Happy another friend wants to pay me to go watch a non professional paint his car so i can make sure he does it well (wont be much and id do it for free! but they insist!) however his none pro friend is not keen on me over seeing! im like suck it up princess! its his car and what he says goes now do it properly! (think he has issues with a female knowing mroe than him and he is prop doing something dodgey in the prep work)

Smile so def a cheap paint job Smile respray takes a fair whack of time still Smile where bouts r u doing it, in a booth? or in a shed? if in a shed have a big fan at one end, and dampen the ground and hang a wet sheet at the other, fan blows overspray on the sheet, and then the damp ground holds any other overspray and minimizes dust. bugs tho r unavoidable even in a booth Razz the amount of times i sprayed a bonnet, all nice and a big blow fly would land in the middle! while it was baking (when i thought id chased em all out!)

ohhh Smile and heat ur clear up before it goes on, tho ur friend prob knows that trick Smile sit it in hot hot water for the hour before, will aid in getting a really nice finish with minimal peel Smile jsut flows out awesomely Smile

Sounds like a good price to me. Wish I knew someone in Vic that would do my van in 2k for that - even doing all the prep work yourself, I think it's a pretty good deal. Keep us informed of how it goes.

Cheers
