Re: Introduce yourself Here!
Hi All,
Bruce here from Outer Sth East in Melbourne, recently purchased this one owner 1973 XB GS van from Qld and drove it back to Melbourne. The van is in fantastic condition and drove faultlessly all the way back. Did a road trip over Easter in it around West Vic then back along the Great Ocean Road.
I used to be in the Dandenong Panelvan Club back in the late 70's with my 74 HQ van Sunset Rebel which had similar body kit as Manderin Dragon except mine was Yellow / Black. Knocked around with lots of the other Vanners back in the day and still have pics of some of the trips we used to go on plus lots of the show vans from the era.
My two daughters also have vans 1977 XC GS and an XF both with lift up tailgate, they love their vans and often head down the coast in them with their friends.
Cheers
Bruce

That is awesome that the girls are into their vans as well! You will have to get them to sign up to the forum too! Definitely have to organise a catch up soon.
Feel free to start a thread on your old van in the van register thread if you have any old pics, would love to see it!
Cheers,
Karl.

Stargazer
Hi all, I’ve been bashing around on this site for a while now, and realised I haven’t introduced myself properly on this thread.
My name’s Rohan, live in Albury/Wodonga, and have an XB GS Van. Bought it over at Echuca last year, had been sitting out in a farm shed for donkeys years. Fair bit of rust, but completely original, including original engine. It’s a 250 4 speed in Blaze Yellow, and was originally built for a Ford employee. I’m in the process of a rebuild, which seems to be turning into a bigger and bigger project as I go.
I had a van back in the 80’s/90’s, Ford of course. Not a show van, but well decked out and comfy. I spent a lot of weekends at the Albury drive-in (called the Stargazer), hence my username, and I changed my avatar picture coz I love the movie, and also my kids think it looks just like me......
Also have to say, love reading about all the old vans & remember a lot of them from my teenage years.
This is a great site, so thanks and keep up the good work.

Re: Introduce yourself Here!
Thanks Karl. I went to the Albury van in last year, but must have unknowingly run over a Chinaman since. I had grand plans to go the Nationals at Caboolture, but was tied up with work projects, and will probably be overseas for the Albury show this year. Anyway, we'll see.
I will start a build thread but not for a few months (work again) but will hit it hard then.
Cheers.

Loving this site,
I'm Chris, been around cars forever ( Rusty can vouch for that ) Built lots of cars, did the show-car thing, went drag racing for a bit, got into hotrods and a U.S. muscle car, now I'm rebuilding my pick-up into a 60's style gasser. Unfortunately, the only van I've owned to date was cut up to make a custom - see "Other sweet rides - My old show pony" Would love to do a van, but I've got too many toys now, and no space. I haven't written the idea off completely, I'll just have to find a spare decade to catch up. I love fabricating, making one-off stuff mostly, things you can't buy. My wife is a shed widow, but I build stuff for her too. She never complains about the cars, because half of them are hers. My wife and I go to a lot of car shows, went to Caboolture at easter and enjoyed it a lot. The photos on this site from back in the day keep us both wanting more.

Re: Introduce yourself Here!
Name's Ian and I love vans, although the only one I've owned was a minivan:( Not to mention I'm a courier so have spent the last 10 years driving boxes.
Tried to convince the wife I needed a Ford Conversion van a couple of years ago, when I owned a Grand Voyager, sadly the need for a reliable daily that was cheap to run put the end to that idea. Currently own a Citroen Picasso so at least it's sort of a van/wagon thing, my 10th wagon/minivan.

Re: Introduce yourself Here!
Hi all, names Matt. I'm 19 and an apprentice mechanic at the local Ford dealership - even though I'm a Holden man at heart
My daily car is a WB ute that I rebuilt myself - started when I was 15 - and it'll never be fully done, but I'm happy with it
I'll put up a thread of the ute later on..
I have just bought a HZ windowless panelvan body off a farm that I'll be turning into a HZ Sandman replica
Anyway, thats it for now, you'll get to know me abit more once I post a bit more, but thanks for having me

Hi Matt , don't feel to bad about working at ford, I'm foreman at a ford dealership but love holdens, it just means when you go to work you know the cars have to be repaired not just serviced like holden haha . Cant wait to see what you do with the HZ and looking forward to seeing pics of the WB.
