Introduction
Hi all,
My names Shane, I live in Adelaide I come across this site while trying to find some info on my ute. I've owned my vy maloo panelvan for around 3 yrs, it's had a little work done to it. Have a new job now with a vehicle and dont get to drive it much (which I didn't do anyway, but even less now) . I've set some pictures and some info out on another thread. Smooth has been really helpful and appreciate his efforts for a new member. I always loved the old panelvans and I'm sure I'll enjoy majestic vanners and the other members I come across.
Cheers,
Shane

Seriously, Holden never, ever called these Commodores. Commodores are Sedans.
Welcome Shane, nice to have another late model Holden Van joining us.

Re: Introduce yourself Here!
I think they may have called them Commodore's as I remember pre delivery checking more than one Holden ute that had a Commodore badge on the tailgate.
But either way I'm not too concerned, I'd rather just enjoy the vans and leave the rivet counting to the numbers matching brigade.
It's just nice to see more vans appearing!

Re: Introduce yourself Here!
Pre VU were badged as Commodore. 2000 to Current VU-VE not so.
No rivet counting, just facts. Would be like saying all Holden Panel Vans are Sandmans or all Commercials Belmonts.

Or all Sandmans were Belmonts. Yeah I know what your saying but you'll never convince the majority otherwise.

Re: Introduce yourself Here!
Hi fella's,
Have been watching this site for a long time now, well done to all the Admin, great site. I have been into the vans since I was about 8yo, used to buy all the Custom vans & trucks mags, as well as Van Wheels. I am almost 40 now.
I love all the old school vans, and it is great to see that quite a few survived, and a few are on MV.
I am a total Chrysler fan, I sorta gravitated away from the vans, when Street machines kinda took over. There were a few more Val's compared to the Van magazines. But I still loved all the Ford and Holden vans.
My favourite Van back then was Mr Damage, I saw this van at the Brisbane Hot rod show back in 81/2.
I am currently building a 75 VK Charger old school Street machine, like what you would have seen at the end of the van era.
It will run new parts only if they can be hidden. I want it to look totally period correct for the era.
I will get a Chrysler van in a few years, it will also be totally old school. looking forward to talking with you all.
Cheers Pete.
P.s. Thanks Rusty for sorting my Username/password issue.

Re: Introduce yourself Here!
Hi Guys and gals, My name is Nick, live in Brissy and new to the site but not to cars or vans.
What started me to the love of cars was my brothers brand new HQ Sandman.
Here are some details.
Purchased new in 74 at Sturgess Hall in Auburn, I think the price was $4300.00
Yellow 308 4 speed and 4 windows. Car come complete with matching yellow curtins, yellow carpeted matress with black edging and carpet on the wheel arches, side walls and tailgate. I assume this was a dealer set up.
unfortunatly he sold it in the 80s.
I have just started my search for a HQ Van and thought that I better start doing some homework.
Current cars are.
2005 CV8Z
1973 HQ 4 Door GTS
2011 FG XR6 Turbo
2004 Subaru Outback

G'day Nick,
Welcome mate. Love to see some photos of the brothers HQ if you can access any.
Modern or old I love 'em all. Time to get a Van for your stable.
Regards, Smooth

Re:Introduce yourself Here!
Hi all,
Got a great sales pitch for this site from Russell at the Victorian Van Titles, so I thought I'd join up.
Well anyway, my name is Kirsten and I'm new to pretty much everything. My Dad was in the van scene when it was booming and I guess the love of vans eventually rubbed off. Being only 17 I am still on my L plates and have only recently purchased my first car, a WB windowless panel van (1981) that I love and have nicknamed Chaunce. It runs well with a 202 blue motor and Aussie 4 speed, it has little rust but could do with a bit of panel beating. Eventually I plan to fit it out and travel around Australia in it, but that wont be till after i finish my schooling. Umm what else... The van was painted voodoo blue, fitted with 100 spoke chrome wheels, caprice dash and commodore VY/VZ flutes by the previous owner... and i think that's about it.
My friends are not interested in it at all (usually only asking why I didn't just buy a new car), so it is nice to find a good bunch of people who share the same interest in vans as I do.

Re: Introduce yourself Here!
Hi Kirsten,
Great ride, your Dad obviously was a very good influence on you.
So your mates don't get? Typical! They probably think a sad Japanese Subaru WRX is good and miss the cool factor completely
Vanning is a way of life, hopefully a long life. Your job to educate those not bought up with any cool factor.
Stick with us, we all understand.
Love to see "larger" and more pictures of your Van and any of your Dad's Van pictures from yesteryear.
Regards, Smooth
