Van Nats 2010 - Phillip Island - Who is Coming?

Yeah, put a banner up, advertising the Un-Van Nationals next Easter where the trophies for the car show on Sunday are given out on Saturday and where you see rust buckets get encouragement awards

Wow have I got a hot motor in my van, I just washed it, took it for a drive to dry it and now I have a fire under the bonnet, FUKC- what has a bloke gotta do to find a good Auto Elec, Looks like I will be riding my bike down to Phillip Island, I wouldnt want to be the Auto Elec on Tuesday morning when I call round to see him.....

Nah, I didnt go to the 2009 Van Nats but going from experience (I have attended quite a few Nats) and your comments, it would be the last place I want to be this weekend.

I know from assisting others in the 2006 Van Nats, the format of the Nats is stale and worn. The VCV even hand out a booklet to potential organisers telling them how to run the Nats. Its just so predictable its not funny.

Here how it goes:

Good Friday - opportunity to meet with other vanners/arrivals if you havent arrived already - VCV AGM
Easter Saturday - cruise and dinner on Saturday night
Easter Sunday - show and presentation
Sunday night - pack up and go home

Need I say anymore????

I forgot to add - I hope you can rectify your problems in the engine bay Andrew. I know its a pain in the A when you want to go somewhere and your car doesnt want to co-operate.

The prizes might as well be given out Sasturday night, going from what i saw last year!!!

Andrew and i were really stunned, when a so-called judge told us what vans were placed top10 & overall.
This was even before the star studded dinner...

Very very sad
I always queried "what about the entrants that showed up on the day???"

So true but then historically the VCV did have issues with NSW vanners getting in the Top Ten...maybe it goes back to the year that Checkmate won?

Can the VCV hold grudges that long??? I didnt think that the VCV would treat their fellow Vanners from Victoria differently but maybe you dont share the same bed as them???

Well thanks to my Auto/Elec I wont be there to fly the flag, funny his not answering his phone, if it wasnt for my dogs water bucket Shannons would have $35,000 less in there bank account, Im really getting very sick of this, How hard can it be to stop the starter wires burning on the extractors- looks like Im going to have to do the job myself and re-route the wiring completly away from the exhaust.....

Andrew - sorry that you won't be there. Are you planning a visit with someone else?

I'm heading off from here about 7.30 am (depending on the wife being ready, of course), so expect to be there around 11 (3 and half hours from here).

I'm planning on taking a few photos, but I'm not taking the van down - it's not been driven for a while and I don't have the time to get it ready.

Has anyone heard from our spies on the ground, ie at the Nats, where next year's Nats will be held?????

I went along to the Island and took a look at the show and shine, and took some pictures (up on the gallery soon).

Rusty, it was great to meet you and put a face to the name - perhaps next year Majestics can have our own display in the Van Nats.

Not sure where it comes from - when I spoke to Rusty he said (I think) it was from Qld, but he would know more about it. It was a nice build - deserves to win van of the show, as it's one of those things that had lots of little things you saw every time you looked at it.

I hope it's in a central location like Holbrook/Albury. If it is and Im not working I'll be there for sure.

Spoke to SMQQTH today and he liked the idea of a easter get together to sacrifice another van at his place, that'd make 3 years in a row MV has cut up a van! In 08 we cut up that WB here, this year Rhino cut up a HJ and next year we can cut up a HQ!
