Re: Introduce yourself Here!
Very cool, I'm looking forward to seeing the pictures.
I remember the "Bloodshot" signage just behind the doors. As I remember I spotted the Van in a shopping centre car park.
So this is the exact same Van your re-building? $$$ always slowed us when we were younger. Still slows me today!
Anyway it sounds great, bring it on!
Regards, Smooth

Hi,
I'm John, I live near Goulburn NSW
Just joined the forum because I recently purchased a VE Van
It's been a very long time between drinks re vans for me.
I had a EH Panelvan in the late sixties, and then a HQ in about 1975
Did a lot of surfing back then and they both did heaps of happy miles all over Oz.
I guess I always had it in the back of my mind to have another Panelvan one day so
about 6 months ago I started looking for a HQ-WB V8 Van, after searching in vain and seeing many Vans that were available I quickly
realised that for my budget I could look forward to many hours of restoration , Cutting out rust, Rebuilding mechanics etc.
That in itself didn't worry me but I've only just finished restoring a 1979 MGBGT and a 1970 Mini and I guess I'm a little burnt out.
Then I saw this Lime Green Panelvan for sale, Holden=Good, V8=Great, Auto=HMMM Sports Shifter.. Guess I can live with that
Air Cond, Power Steer, Power windows, Cruise, 6 Stacker, = Even Better
Ok I'm sold and less than I was intending to spend and all I have to do it have fun.
Picked it up a month ago.
Best thing I've done in years! Still smiling!
Already started with a few Mods
Replaced the stock 18s with an nice set of Thunder 19s
The interior that was in good condition but looking a little used, So I fitted a New Headlining, SunVisors, Steering Wheel, Console lid, replaced the Fabric seats with Leather.
Fitted a Towbar
Front Spoiler Armour
I've also asked Mike Savage to Mod my Bonnet adding Monaro Bonnet scoops,
I know it's been done to death but I really like the look it gives the VE
I found a HSV Bonnet Mould so that will go on when I get the Bonnet back from Mike
To fit the Bonnet Mould I've had to Mod the Grill, I purchased a Chev type one but decided to mod it as everyone else has one and Just want to be a little different.
Thinking about some artwork for the sides. Still undecided.
That's about it, Love having a Panelvan again, sort of recaptures my youth.
Cant be a middle aged crisis because my misses says I never really grew up.
Hooroo For now, John

Hi,just introducing myself...
I've been slack Rusty, I know. Life is just too busy.
But I've finally jumped on to check out the forum...and I like what I see!
My name is Kerri, I'm based on the northside of Brisbane.
In 1974 my dad bought a Tropicana Green XB Panelvan. The panelvan was sold off the showroom floor at JT Fossey P/L in Tamworth, 17th May 1974 to a Mr Sutton.
12mths months later Dad bought it from Leo Muller at Albion. It has been in our family ever since.
It looks like it was a custom build, but maybe someone on the forum could shed some more light.
It has side windows, a flat bonnet (no scoops), a 4.1ltr motor, bench seat, column shift and a full hood lining all the way to the back. This is all original.
From what I have heard, the off the shelf XB was slightly different. So I'm guessing she may be one of a kind.
I have started a Facebook page and a blog, just to keep the memories.
In the middle of 2016 I had what I think is a midlife crisis, and this wife and mother of 2 decided she was going back her her grease monkey days, and started the restoration of the panelvan.
I haven't had my head under a bonnet for many many years, and I'm very rusty.
.....and that is my introduction, and yes that is me leaning against the XB in my early teens....embarrassment!
I'm looking forward to meeting some of you in Hervey Bay in Sept/Oct.
I'm now going to go over and check out the girls posts...go girls!

Introducing Myself
Hi fellow van enthusiasts,
I'm something of a Holden fan (no offence to others) and am now getting back into real cars again with a 9yr drought. Inspired by my wife's grandfather story - as an old coach builder and panelbeater he reportedly built the first "panelvan" in Australia in the early 50s when a WA farmer asked for his ute to be converted. This also started the manufacturing of WA ambulances which one son still does. Back to me- i love older vans and especially the ej-eh variety.
Sadly, I don't currently have one but if anyone knows one for sale or has a spare please let me know as it would be great to enjoy the van life again and teach my two sons about them and how to drive.
Many thanks and the vans here are a credit to owners dedication and skill.
Ps in lieu of finding an ej eh panel van I'm taking a looking at a 90s modified fc (202 with supercharger!!!). If there are any owners out there some advice on what to look for and practicalities of potentially owning a hot fc van would be greatly appreciated.
Hope to be able to post a van pic soon

Life has a tendency to do that. Many of us know only too well.
I'm pleased to read you still have the Sandman.
I look forward to seeing updates on the Van.

Hi All,
My name is Scott, I live in Batemans Bay NSW with my wife and 3 of our 4 children.
I've owned a WB van called Sux Gas since 1990 which I use to show up until around 95-96 (cant find any pics anywhere) had it at the 95 Nats it was Nissan Pulsar Blue, caprice Front, hornet scooped SBC for those with a good memory or photo collection, looks a bit sad these days thou.
I have recently bought a HQ Belmont van factory Purr Pull in colour 308 trimatic, but now runs a healthy 383, full manual T700 and 4.11 VN diff. It needs a bit of interior and exterior work to bring it up to scratch which I'm hoping to have finished for next years Nats. so hopefully I'll be posting regular pics as soon as I work out how to, in the mean time I'm hoping these links work

Yeah the seat defiantly holds me snug but it also makes it pretty hard for an old fella to get in and out
while still trying to look
