Re: Introduce yourself Here!
I was going to correct you, but thought better of it.
As with all projects it is a matter of time and money. Our van will be complete when it is complete.
Just hoping for a nice clean van that is reliable enough to get her out evry now and again.

Heya All
My name is Andrew and I live in Canberra (North side of course). I recently joined the vanning community when I purchased my new baby (her name is Sunny). Really excited to be party of the community and hope to have lots of vanning between now and then.

Hi Andrew
Great to see another local on board – would love to hear from others in the Canberra area with the hope of getting together sometime.
Looks like quite a rare van as I would expect that there are not too many Transit Sundowner’s still remaining – being they were not that popular new !!
Cheers
Neal

Re: Introduce yourself Here!
G'day,
A longtime panelvan lover. Had a HX Sandman back in the late 70's, an ex NRMA HQ panelvan in the very early 80's, and an XC 351 panelvan in mid 80's. As well of course as the many utes, sedans and wagons along the road of life.
The reason I have signed on here is, I am currently trying to sweet talk the missus into letting me buy a VE II Thunder that has the Sandman mod/upgrade/conversion? done to it and it looked great. As i was looking it over, and talking to the salesman I realised, I really miss the feel and excitement of those days and after getting home from the test drive, I straight away used this new funky Internets to look up all the cars I have loved over the years, and found this site.
So G'day and wish me luck in my mission to sweet talk the missus into letting me have a small taste of the past with a bit of the present.
regards
Steve

Welcome to the forum Steve
Hope the missus lets you buy the millennium van (with all the mod cons)
There are plenty of old Vanners still out there still in old vans and some with the new....

Hi Everyone, I've been on this forum for awhile but due to work (long hours) and not having a van I haven't posted before. I'm in the Hunter Valley and have finally got my van (which I've wanted since I was 9 yrs old) needs a lot of work but I'm up for a challenge and slowly but surely I'll get there. When I'm able to I'll get some photos of the van posted showing the progress that I've made so far. I really enjoy this forum

Re: Introduce yourself Here!
It's a HJ, worked 308, 9" came with new bobtail, bubble window for the tailgate, front spoiler and rust in all the usual spots. It's the one on the avatar but it's pulled apart now, rubbed back 2/3 of it, put flute inserts in my front guards already. Everything's there, just needs some TLC which I've got plenty of time for. I've made up a jig already to lift the body off so I'm off to s good start.

Re: Introduce yourself Here!
Hi people,
I'm introducing myself as I have bought myself a 79 HZ Kingswood Panel van, 253 trimatic.
I actually bought it 2 years ago and i finally went and picked it up over the Easter long weekend.
I will start a build thread with plenty of pictures, and hopefully get lots of ideas and assistance from like minded vanners.
Thanks
Ian

Re: Introduce yourself Here!
Hi to everyone. My name is Mick. My son Daniel is starting a HQ panel van restoration Project which should take us about 4 years. He is 14 years old and loves old classics. He originally wanted a hq sedan and has been showing me hq sedans every night for the last year. I came across a hq van at a reasonable price and asked if he wanted a van instead. the answer was Yeahh. !! We picked it up a couple of days ago. It is a good learning curve for him and i know he will appreciate it.The van will be fully stripped, body separated from the chassis and body rotisseried There is lots of rust and we are no strangers to rust repairs.Daniel is over the moon, at least he will stop bugging me now, also thankyou for letting us join your group. i know my way around Toranas but am pretty new to vans so i will be asking lots of questions when the time comes. Cheers from Mick and Daniel

Re: Introduce yourself Here!
Gidday Mick & Daniel,
Plenty of rust stories to be told on this forum for sure, happy days there. And I think the collective wisdom on HQ's here should help solve any problem.
Sounds like a great shared project.

A man with a van plan
G'Day all,
I'm about to buy my second Bedford which I'm hoping to own longer than my first (3 weeks), I bought it on a whim but ended up selling it when reality set in...
The Bedford I'm about to buy suits me a lot better, low roof, v8, solid underneath, already decked out and a proven tow vehicle.
My question is, will I be able to get NSW Club Rego with the custom front and the v8?
I can't wait to get it, freshen it up a little and hit the road, looking forward to catching up with all you like-minded van fans soon!

Re: Introduce yourself Here!
Hi Nic
Welcome to the forum, sorry for the delay in getting back to you as most of
us have been preoccupied with the passing of our club president/ founding member Robert.
In answering your questions once a member you can get club rego.
The beddi look cool with the fibreglass front and what looks to be xc falcon headlights.
283 and auto shouldn't be a problem providing its registered and engineered in another state.
As reminder the van still has to meet Nsw rego laws to go to club plates which means blue/pink slip & a couple of other forms then your done
Could you please post up some more pics sounds like a cool ride that someone has put some serious work into...

Re: Introduce yourself Here!
Thanks for getting back to me guys, my commiserations on Robert Burns passing, with all the tributes and notifications talking about how significant he was in the vanning scene...
Yes the van is in the For Sale section, if someone doesn't take it by this time next week then I'll be buying it and I'm looking forward to tidying it up and getting it back on the road... and I will definitely keep you all informed and Van Nats 2017 is a definite!
